I am a Bronze level zerg, top of my division, winning 70% of my games now, probably going to be promoted soon. But I don't want to. All I have played is zerg and I want a change. I'm thinking terran. As zerg, I've only done one build order 14 gas/pool because I was told to work on mechanics and it is safe.
What is the Terran equivalent of this? Thanks. |

All races are different for a reason. There isn't an exact replica of speedling expand for other races, and it depends how you played this out to get the closest for another race. |

Terran I believe, but it usually starts with whoever is host though.Last edit: 2011-06-14 08:37:34 |

It's just a coincidence if you keep seeing 3. Often times you'll see people not fill a bunker just so it looks like they have more forces they actually do. If an observer comes in and sees 2 bunkers with it's lights on and 15 marines behind, they will assume you have 23 marines when you may only have 17. |

well then it depends on the matchup:
TvZ: reactor helion expand. Grants map control, pressure, and an expantion with no commitments TvP: marauder expand. If controlled properly, can hold off 3-4 gate pressures with an expansion. I'm lost on TvT (I'm a zerg player) so I don't know at all.
Edit: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=227933 <-a fantastic thread that is basically a how-to for standard terran.Last edit: 2011-06-14 11:49:09 |

I posted this 2 times in this thread but no one ever responds to this question, going to give it one last shot:
How can I tell between a 1 rax FE and 4-6 Rax all in as Protoss? All I scout is an OC, no gas, and 1 barracks and a marine. The players I play always show the marines from 1 barracks, or even get a Bunker. If I leave a unit at the watch tower, I probably cannot react in time. The two counters to this are completely opposite and can hurt you horribly if you guess incorrectly. -3 Gate FE -1/2 Gate FE If you already built the Nexus, you either lose it or have to cancel it (and lose anyways because you cannot get up enough units). Can a 15 Nexus hold off a 5 Rax Marine SCV all in? I have been using this build recently, does this work well against a 1 rax no gas opening? The guide says to go 1 gate FE if you scout no gas, but a 5 rax SCV All in screws me over so bad if I do. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=217567
I would appreciate any help! |

I'd actually love to hear this too.
Also, if you're 3gate sentry expanding v Zerg and they try to ling all-in you, what do you want to do to hold? Sentry zealot?

Yup, just use force fields to zone the lings and make the terrain favor you. Be sure to get a rough estimate of the ling numbers before you start spamming FFFFFFFF though, some zergs (me included) occasionally throw in a fake attack with around 16 lings to try and burn sentry energy, which will make your mid-game push weaker.

Now I'm not a terran or protoss player, but I'll throw some advice out there. These kinds of huge marine attacks are a cheese, the other player is forcing a coin-flip scenario and the game will usually not come down to skill at all. 15 nexus is just the kind of build your opponent is hoping you go for, I don't think it can be held. As for 3 gate FE vs unknown-mineral-only-build, I would recommend just going 3 gate pressure, in PvTs I've seen 3gate can work really well against 1 rax FEs by putting on a lot of...well pressure. |

| Any way for zerg to handle mass battlecruisers? Seems they steamroll mutas, corrupters and hydras pretty easily. In 1v1 I know the answer is to not let them get there in the first place, but in 3v3 it happens quite a bit with their other two teammates covering. |

Corruptors do bonus damage to massive for just this reason, they were designed as a response to massive air. If the opponent does roll through your corruptos...well I guess you just didn't have enough corruptors! If you feel like being gosu you could try neral parasite to nab some of them and do some friendly fire yammato-ing but in a 3v3 fuster cluck that might not work too well. |

15 Nexus, except on very long rush distance, like Tal'Darim, will suffer against mineral-only terran all-ins. It's hard to tell a 4 rax allin from a 1 rax FE once your scouting is shut down. One option to turn the allin "coin flip" into a micro battle is, against a no gas build, rush out 2-3 stalkers and keep on poking his front. Without marauders, he'll be vulnerable to kiting and shield abuse and will lose several marines. Against a 1 rax FE this may do some damage, and against a marine only allin, you can kite him all the way back to your base, shutting down his allin. This will delay your nexus. |

3v3 is very different to 1v1. If an opponent goes for BCs then the usual response is corruptors, but if you only go for corruptors what happens when one of the other players attacks you with ground units....
I can remember 3 times in 3v3s that someone went for BCs. I got a group of corruptors and infestors, the BCs shoot the corruptors so it leaves you with time to corrupt, focus fire and neural paracite, try to get one with alot of energy if the have yammato cannon :D
Btw, infestors ROCK team games. neural paracite anything thats not tier 1 and your good |

I had considered neural parasite, but in this case, the BC's came with about 100 blink stalkers, so I imagine the NP would have lasted about 1.5 seconds.
Oh well, it's 3v3, no use stressing. |
