I definitly disagree with Demon souls being a grindfest. You don't need to level up your character hardcore for anything. Sure it makes it easier, but if you're really good at the game you can manage with a low level character. Ultimatley it's your skill that matters the most and determines how far you get. I really loved how I would die at some point, be really frustrated with the loss of all the collected souls and then after a pause I would come back to the game and notice how much better I've become at handling enemys that gave me so much trouble the first or second time around. Also the tension and pressure i felt when I was carrying ten-thousends of soul points around was awesome.

The trailer is nice, but the quote about how gorgeous it looks kind of irked me. It does look great, but there a a few areas (at least on PS3) where the frame rate gets really choppy. It hasn't really effected the gameplay so far for me, but it is pretty noticeable where it occurs, and unfortunate since the models / environment / effects really do look great.
Apart from that, though, no real complaints so far. Brutally unforgiving at times, yes, but the challenge is also incredibly rewarding. I don't consider myself particularly good at games and generally don't seek any big challenges, but I've been able to make pretty steady progress up til now, so I think there's hope for most people :-p

The "making of" DVD and the strategy guide will now be digital. I'm not too bothered by the DVD, but an online strategy guide is pretty much worthless with all the walkthroughs and guides out there...
Giantbomb have their quicklook up I believe. Not going to watch for spoilers though.

Odd game to do a 24 hour stream of. Half the fun of the game will be not knowing what the hell is going to come at you next. I would never watch that. Then again i guess watching them die 100 times and throw the controller at the wall could definitely be entertaining...
Oh and that sucks about the CE thing.

Yeah, it's definitely better not having any idea what to expect going in -.- I kind of regret even going through all the IGN screenshots or gameplay vids from E3 / TGS, there are so many great "surprises." If you're planning on buying the game anyway, you should probably avoid what you can.

I personally don't mind too much. I've had the stream on for the past 8 hours, and I just turn to look at it on my secondary screen when something interesting happens. Seeing them die gruesome deaths, or roll off cliffs are pretty entertaining at times. There are a bunch of "OHHH!" moments .
Pretty much all I can do right now to quench my thirst for the game.
Speaking of which, they give out copies of the game, T-shirts, and awesome handmade clay models (being made live), to viewers over time via Twitter.

True, but I think the stream is geared more toward people who have 360s and have no idea what Dark Souls will be like rather than PS3 players who have experienced Demon's Souls and know what kind of gameplay to expect.
Still, I'm trying to avoid any kind of spoilers myself.
I've enjoyed about an hour viewership of the IGN stream. Dark Souls looks fantastic, so today I'll be preordering it. I can't wait to get this game in my hands : )

Haha, they actually had a few people playing, but yes, none of them were really good. I cringed quite a bit when watching them make certain combat decisions. A lot of the timing was just off.
I'm quite concerned regarding the multiplayer connections. There were a lot of failed summons. I hope the cause was just shitty internet from certain individuals.

this looks like it will be more fun for me than demon's souls, but I doubt I will ever have the time to really play it lol. Maybe winter break i'll get some time for it.
