New IS12 sponsors: A-DATA, Rage Gage, Razer
We’re pleased to announce that A-DATA, Rage Gage, and Razer will be sponsoring Iron Storm XII, our LAN party being held March 4-6.
This brings us up to 22 corporate sponsors supporting Pittco with prizes, cash, discounts, food, and more. We’re still in talks with several more sponsors and hope to secure them for IS12, as well!
We’ll announce prizes as they start to come in. So far, we received some cases from Cooler Master and some wireless equipment from TRENDnet. We’ll have some gaming peripherals from Razer, motherboards and video cards from Gigabyte, and lots of other good things from our other sponsors. Stay tuned for a more formal list next week!

It's a shame that people will only come to LANs for a chance to win prizes. However I can understand some people need something to keep them motivated / to show its worth the drive.
I'm pretty excited for this! I think it will be a lot of fun meeting some peeps. I talked to the CSL team of PITT and they won't be able to come/bring anyone. I think a lot of their players go home on vacation for spring break. Also the CMU team never responds to me. T_T

Haha we CMU team folks are busy with our backbreaking CMU workloads.
Going to volunteer Thundertoss and I for casting >_> <_<
Not sure if he's actually available but who cares!

I'd love to go to this but I probably can't.

Too busy to answer an email? It's no biggie. I don't think CMU has any intern sc2 events anyways do they? Do you know if there is going to be like a casting area for the event? That sounds pretty neat maybe I'll see you at the event.

Looks pretty sweet. It's a shame we can't all throw down $20 to make our own little prize pool.

I wouldn't say we should do that. However I guess I am surprised a bit after seeing those many sponsors and not see any prize for first place. Didn't any of these sponsors send any hardware or anything?

There's a CMU channel on bnet where you may run into a few. As far as I know we only officially do CSL but of course there's lots of little lan parties around campus.
Also I don't think there's meant to be any casting for the event since it's fairly small anyway but I'm offering just in case.

On February 14 2011 07:31 sAfuRos wrote: No prize for sc2? Lameee Of course there are prizes for SC2. There are prizes for all of our official tournaments. If there are buy-ins (like the CS:S tourney), they will also receive a prize(s) donated to us by our sponsors! It is basically up to the players to suggest a buy-in for any tournament (majority vote). We know that the CS:S tournament (from past experience) will expect a buy-in.
Prizes have a little more intuit on dispensation. It is sometimes up to the sponsor to tell us how and what, each prize is to be divided. In other situations, it is ours. However, you will receive a prize(s) that is equivalent to the game you play. *If you are playing a PC game, you will receive a PC prize(s)*

Not sure if he's actually available but who cares! If you wish to volunteer and cast this event, we would be more than welcome to accommodate you! In fact, its probably best we have this cast.

We have so many sponsors, it's hard to divvy them all up, as we are still receiving the prizes. We don't know what they will send us until we actually have them in our possession; so we leave the tournaments blank that doesn't have a sponsor *specifically* sponsoring it.
I hope this clears up the questions you've had.

If you would like to have me cast I would be honored to. I have done a lot of casting lately withe TheGunRun on GLHF.tv for Craft Cup, Zotac Cup, and Assembly. I don't plan to go home for spring break. I will try to convince some CMU Starcraft2 players to compete!

Is this BYOC or are there going to be PC's there?

I'd love to meet the Pittsburgh sc community, I've never really heard a peep from the area scene before.
Never been to like a LAN event.

New IS12 sponsors: Alienware Arena, Fathead
We’re pleased to announce that Alienware Arena and Fathead have joined the ranks of our sponsors for Iron Storm XII. Alienware Arena will be providing input peripherals for a contest and Fathead will provide one or two of its wall graphics.
This brings us to 24 sponsors supporting Pittco with prizes, cash, discounts, food, and more. We’ve still got several sponsors in the pipeline, so keep an eye at www.pittco.org, on our RSS feed, our Twitter, and our Facebook for more announcements!

I'm still a bit confused; is there a monetary prize for SC2 that is yet undecided, or is it just like a tangible prize?
And yes, some of us do need monetary motivations to go drive out long distances :p
