A couple years back I got to go with my university's NROTC drill team for a competition at Tulane during Mardi Gras weekend. Snapped this photo walking around town.
How do you take such a picture? Is it photoshoped or painted? Have seen this in a book some time ago and liked it quite a lot, yet I am still wondering how this is done.

I read about this picture a while ago. I remember that it is composite from different pictures and not shopped. But I'm not sure who has taken the pictures. It were either astronauts from the ISS or a satellite.

It's probably taken by satellite... just a guess
The earth is kind of round, though. At the very least they must have pasted multiple images together.

It has to be put together since it cannot be dark on every side of the earth at the same time. So it is not one point in time. Mysterious, but I think that this is indeed real.
This thread has completely derailed, I'm genuinely sad when I see the last 5 pages, I myself had nothing to contribute sadly, but I still take immense pleasure when seeing all these pictures, and the last 50 posts are so off-topic I can't even start to explain why.
