Excalibur, let's play 1 game in our 2x2 team, then I won't play any 1x1 games in both my accounts (and I won't play at all in the european one), I'll just do it at season 5 (december?), then I will have an answer for us, it's not like I want to play anyway, I am more of an espectator nowadays 
(I will play customs though, I'll play them in AM only though to be sure)
I will have a use for my dual account other than to use European foruns (at least they have tons of languages <3). |

Did we play any during Season 3? I thought we only played during Season 2. I might be misremembering though. |

Did we play any during Season 3? I thought we only played during Season 2. I might be misremembering though.
Season 3 was the first season of the merge, then we played with my LA account, so yeah.
What I intend doing:
With the LA account, play 2x2, but not 1x1 and see if the 1x1 resets at season 5.
With the EU account, I won't play at all and see if the 1x1 resets at season 5.
If none reset, it was a bug, if only EU reset, then 1x1, 2x2 etc MMR have connections, if both reset. |

I browsed through random platinum & diamond divisions searching for players who had to go through 5 placement matches. Here are some who did not have 1v1 league placement during season 3 and now had to go through 5 placements. Their sc2ranks URL did not contain ru, so they are most likely originally from EU too. There seems to be lots of players whose MMR was reset after inactivity.
3 of these 4 players did not have any league placements in season 3. If I remember correctly it was 20 or more weeks since they had played 1v1 matches before s4 placements. Based on so small sample size I cannot figure out the conditions for when MMR reset happens and when it does not.

Heh I just wanted to ask the same question After one season of total inactivity, one or 5 placement matches? Im gonna be inactive during S4 (this season) and Im gonna post some info just after the start of season 5 - how many placement matches i got, MMR change and stuff.

I was inactive all of season 2(High Diamond season 1, playing mostly low masters people) and I had to do 5 placements when I started again at the end of season 3 (placed Plat). So I guess the MMR does reset.Last edit: 2011-11-01 04:52:19 |

I think the rules for GM placement have been changed. The old system would not have 200 spots fill up in 4 hours. People like NrGostojiy, lalush, CombatEX, coLrsvp are still in masters. In the old system there will be spots reserved for them even though they have no played in a match.
I also don't think must have less than 90 bonus pool rule applies. There are many people who got into GM league in their first game of the season. They even got in with a loss. IIRC, there was 93 bonus pool points when GM started. |

There's something wrong because you also are only supposed to get promoted into GM league, not directly placed into it. Promotions only happen after a win, and there are players in GM who have 0-1 records which means they must have been initially placed there. |

thats actually not true, You can lose a game and get promoted after a lost game. I have been promoted after a lost game couple times (1v1 and team games). |

He's specifically referring to being promoted into GM. And what excal said is true as of the previous seasons: to get into GM you need to have the required MMR and also win a game to be promoted. |

Emm Im not that sure about the winning thing, Blizz said You have to play a game, not to win one. Correct me if Im wrong, Im just reffering to this:
Qualification for this league takes place during the first two weeks of play following the start of a new season, after which potential Grandmaster League candidates must play one more match in order to receive their promotion

I'm not sure if the "promotions only happen after a win" thing is an official blue post anywhere, but it comes from one of the developers. There were some cases where promotions can happen the game after a win, but those were typically due to the server queuing up results a little over a year ago and that doesn't commonly occur anymore. |

I'm currently playing my placements games in 2v2 Random.
Currently - LWWW
My third game (W) was against a plat team.
My fourth game (W) was against a gold team
I no abit about MMR etc but was suprised after beating a plat i go up against a gold team and they were a middle ranked team at that. It got me thinking about the previous game even thought it was a W i got my expos crushed and my partner Zerg macro'd up easily. He raged i was rubbish and quit leaving me 3k minerals and 1.5k gas. I then took control of his hatches, built banes and mutas and crushed the other team. At the end on the score screen my partners score was through the roof while mine was well below the rest of the 3 players present.
I'm wondering if this low score affected the next placement as i thinks im not good enough for plat players hense the next game against average golds or is opinion. Strickly speaking i was likely behind but obviously taking over another players units stopped my score dead making it look much worse.
Any thoughts? |

Guys, can you tell me something? Why is the platinum emblem so ugly? :D
I don't want to leave gold league because it looks more impressive that platinum.
Not an entirely serious post, but the platinum emblem is actually very ugly... |
