The second part I really didn't like was how he was completely free of all charges, after commiting murder. I mean, seriously? Does the law in US works like this? I've never seen this on the News, on TV Shows or movies. Guy goes completely free just because the guy he killed was a serial killer? It's still murder...
jury nullification man. Its technically possible, though unrealistic. But all of these law and order spin offs (and most TV for that matter) are absurd and unrealistic if you think about it.
I'm alright with suspending disbelief, but the season premier required too much. Very disappointed.

What I love about this show is how cheesy it is, every episode is this ridiculous and that is exactly why I watch it. I mean do you really want to take issue with this episode after The Biker gang episode, the episode where Jane solves a crime from jail?? just to name a few.Last edit: 2011-10-03 14:22:26 |

I like to take into consideration the "universe" in which the series is held on. In The Mentalist's universe, Jane is smart enough to solve that crime from jail, that's why I don't have a problem with it.
For example, in Smallville, Clark has superpowers, it's normal for that universe, that's why I don't have any problem with other people showing up with other kind of super powers. But I can't stand when some stuff happen and they're weird even for that universe, like when a guy, whose super power is super-speed, uses a wooden baseball bat to hit Clark, and Clark is throw a bunch of meters into the air... how's that possible, even within that universe, that wooden bat doesn't breakm, and instead it hurts Clark? It makes no sense even for that universe.
In a non-related question, what do you guys think will happen if Red John murder another girl? This will show that RJ is not dead and then Jane will have to be in trial again? |

I think double jeopardy applies. Jane cannot be re-tried for the same crime unless there's a whole bunch of legal wrangling going on in the background we don't know about. |

| ^ In theory he could be tried again if he was tried for the murder of a specific person and not Red John. The only thing that bothers me with this show is that because Red John is so elusive and covers so many people will the ending really do it justice and they'll have a lot of ground to cover to make sure it comes together well. |

Well, I think they set for 5 seasons, isn't that right? So that would be 40~ episodes to cover everything up. Should be enough.

Can anyone tell me what happened with Bertram? I don't recall anything happening to him for them to get a new boss. What's up with that?
ps.: Is anyone else bothered they didn't show what was in the box of LaRoche? |

I was actually really really disappointed with the first episode this season. It seemed so rushed, they crammed an entire trial into one episode and he got off scot-free, despite murdering someone. But he has such charm. And such a mischievous smile! Anyways, the most recent one, on the island, is a pretty random episode. I quite enjoyed it though. Also yes, Tschis, I am bothered that I don't know what is in LaRoches little box. |

| Yea I agree about the ending. At first, I thought the episode was kinda boring, predictable and cliche. But then when Jane's plan fails and things don't end happily ever after, I found it a lot more interesting. As soon as Jane got him talking about Red John, I was like GG. |

| So episode 5 of this season, Sarah Herrigan? I couldnt help but laugh my ass off it felt like such a Starcraft reference. She was an lawyer in a previous episode I guess, and she showed up from the public defenders office. Anyways, I lol'd. Anyone else notice? |
