Hello TL'ers. Below you will find some very basic charts & stats regarding the most recent GSL Season. Additionally, I have included the matchup stats since the introduction of the larger maps, (i.e. Crevasse, Tal'Darim, etc.) as they have seemingly had a large effect on specific matchups. Therefore, the last picture also takes into account the first GSTL held in February, and the recent up-and-down matches that have been held thus far.
These numbers are also readily available on TLPD, but I thought it would be nice to give them a visual element and make it easier to browse. Everything is color coordinated and should be nice to read.
I intend on updating these regularly, so stay tuned for more and enjoy!
2011 GSL Season 2 Code S
2011 GSL Season 2 Code A
2011 GSL Season 2 Overall
2011 New Maps Overall
*NOTES* TvZ - Observed slightly more wins for Terran. PvZ - Observed slightly more wins for Protoss. PvT - Observed significantly more wins for Protoss.
Discrepancy in PvT matchup between code A and code S.
Seems the larger maps have had the greatest effect by far on PvT. The long distances between bases have reduced the threat of early bio harassment, allowing Protoss to comfortably enter the mid game.

This is fairly interesting, but I would like to see comparisons to previous seasons with similiar charts.
I'm saying this because the "favored races" thing might not actually indicate game imbalances, but current state of player knowledge.
Besides, bigger sample gives more accurate statistics.

Yeah until you start getting a decent pool of samples its untrustworthy for balance suggestions, I still have no idea about this whole Protoss is OP bs that we've been hearing since MC won.

Is it just me who associates Terran with blue, Protoss with green and Zerg with red?

I love statistics and charts but it hurts to see them filled with stats like 1-0 , 2-1 etc.
I appreciate the effort but at the moment I don't think they mean much. Hopefully they'll look much better with more games in time ( still nice to see tvz stats are pretty close )

Besides, bigger sample gives more accurate statistics. This is true, it very well could be a representative of the current state of player knowledge. For example, I think after last night's GSL Finals, I think we'll see a significant swing in the PvZ stats in the near future.

TvZ - Observed slightly more wins for Terran PvZ - Observed slightly more wins for Protoss PvT - Observed significantly more wins for Protoss

Definitely on the Terran/Zerg part, I don't know what I associate Protoss with. Maybe purple.

I suppose that's fair, but "favored" is a strong word. He can conclude that Protoss has a higher average win percentage, but that doesn't mean that in a future PvT, the odds of Protoss winning is higher.

Colorblind maybe?

This is quite interesting, it seems the match ups are really close.
I'm surprised to see that PvT is the matchup that sees the biggest deviance from a 50% win.

Actually that's the colour scheme used on TL, so no, not just me.

Good to see protoss doing better this season.

No he's right, Terran is usually blue, Zerg is red, and Protoss is green. I was confused for awhile too.

If each race had a 50% chance to win a game and we assume a binomial distribution, the p value of the results is 0.075 for PvT, 0.212 for PvZ and 0.334 for TvZ.

He very clearly displayed his methodology, have you gotten your eyes checked?
Also it's not saying that PvT or any other matchup is imbalanced just that the data from the most recent tournament supports his observations.

I went with the color scheme because I always envision banelings, mutas, and other zerg as green-goo filled creatures. Protoss feels glowing, mystic, and thus blue. Terran feels red to me.

when i see p>t in code S and t>p in code A shakuras in code S 4-0 for protoss shakuras in code A 3-0 for terran
it just seems to be to less data input
