i agree that alot of the episodes were a bunch of red herrings but the ending of this season was kinda worth it.
It's a terrible show. After watching the finale, I can finally come out and say it. No show can get by on just strong ambiance and strong performances. Every single episode has given us nothing towards the central plot (or at least, the "alleged" central plot,) who killed Rosie Larsen? Over 10 hours, we have taken away the two teenage boys, Bennett Ahmed, Belko and Richmond as suspects. They also killed two of them - characters we were supposed to develop sympathy for.
And now, AMC has gotten another 10 hours of this show - for what? More exposition on the concept of grief? More red herrings? The show is largely pointless - the detectives end up in the same field as the beginning of the show, Holder is sleazy and untrustworthy like he was in the beginning of the show, Linden will almost certainly NOT be in California like in the beginning of the show. Nothing has changed. Rosie Larsen's dead and I don't care anymore. |

One of the best series I have seen in years. Not sure why you guys are knocking this series so hard. Each episode spanned a single day of the investigation of her murder. In this case it was a murder that was closely tied to many different people. This meant each character had to be centered on. Ending was an awesome twist.
Also to the poster above. Of the 3 suspects, belko is alive, you don't see him shoot richmond, and bennet is in a hospital in critical condition. Thats 3 people who are alive. I am eagerly awaiting the next season. |

| The ending just blew my mind. I was on the fence about this series until the very end, now I am definitely a fan. There was some parts of the season I didnt like, particular the stuff regarding the female detectives personal life, and how there was an entire episode wasted with her looking for her kid. It does bother me that we still have no idea who killed Rosie Larson though. |

I agree with this. It's extremely sad watching a mystery when you realize the writers are actually douchebags. What the fuck is the point of multi-season story arcs when the writers themselves didn't know there was going to be a second season until last week? I've been saying this since Lost, there needs to be a crackdown on TV writing ethics. Too many shows are recklessly creating plotlines that promise great payoffs in order to draw ratings, but no one actually cares to deliver. The show feels like it came out of a mystery 101 lab designed to mislead the audience with as much useless shit as possible and provide answers to shit that doesnt matter as often as possible. The writing is extremely mechanical, and worst of all repetitive. They made sure to add just enough dazzle to fool critics. The show's a good example of the worst kind of commercialized tv writing. |

I cannot believe after the whole season, we still don't know who the damn killer is even though that's the whole point of the show. All they had to do, ALL THEY HAD TO DO, was do 1 murder per season. HOW EASY IS THAT, they had everything else down; excellent, tense drama, pretty tight writing. But no. They go ahead and leave the whole thing on a "cliffhanger".
Last week I would've recommended this show to just about anyone because it's got such good acting and atmosphere. But now I don't even know if I'm going to stick around for next season. RAGE AMC |

You guys do realize this show is a remake of the Danish show right? And that the Danish show took 2 seasons to reveal the killer?
If you don't like the format of the show, or that its going to take 2 seasons to reveal the killer thats fine, this show obviously isn't intended for you. AMC never said it was going to be a 'one case each season' show, so if people here assumed it would be, you have noone but yourselves to blame for being let down. |

| I don't hate it as much as everyone else I guess... I don't have a problem with the cliffhanger very much, and I think it'll set up for a good season 2. |

| I have mixed feelings. I think the show was pretty good, but things like having an entire episode of her looking for her son and other pointless things? I feel like it's dragging, which is never good. For example, did they ever answer when rosie was in the downstairs of that school? I know they found the friends downstairs with rosie's friend, but that doesn't explain why there was blood and stuff, right? |

The entire point of the series wasn't to explore a linear plotline, it was to dive deeper and deeper into the lives of the characters that were pulled into the vortex opened by Rosie's death. All Rosie's death served as was an excuse to explore the lives and backstories of everyone that we met, the death in and of itself is just about incidental.
Sure it's jarring to not have a story follow the traditional arc that we're used to, but just because you can't deal with the atypical storytelling doesn't make it a bad show. It just makes you stubborn. |

lol i kinda believed the future mayor was the killer, then i thought how this show works and i knew figured out they WANT us to believe he did it but like all the characters in the past, its always not the person they make it look out to be as of rite now i think its either the current mayor trying to frame the Councillor
so far the only negative thing i find about the show is the scene where his computer beeps with each email. kinda funny and weird. Last edit: 2011-06-21 11:46:12 |
