Hi everyone,
In this post I will try to summarize features, requests and updates for:
Sc2 Replay Monkey (Portable), Google code page
which is a starcraft II replay organizer tool. Current version: v1.2.0 Run TheOmniscientChimp.exe to be up to date
26/04/11: Important: if you were already using SC2 Replay Monkey prior to v1.1.0 I strongly recommand downloading the latest version that contains bugfixes and will update itself in the future.
If it crashes when you try to load replays through the "ADD FILES" button, you're missing VC++ 2010 redist.
You will need The Framework .Net 4.0 as well to run this application.
Terran skin (NEW):
Zerg skin:
It parses replay data based on SC2 Parser Ape which is itself based on phpsc2replay. Sc2 Parser Ape was also done by me. Icon was made by Arcanoss.
Its main purpose is NOT to display exhaustive information on the game, but to help the user quickly sort, move and watch replays.
Version Notes: - From v1.0 on, Phalanger is no longer required to run this application. - An automatic installer is now also available. Manual installation will alway be available as well. - v1.0.1 will not have an automatic installer. - v1.1.0 is the first version with an auto-updater. - v1.1.0 contains several fixes for 64 bit users, thanks to polysciguy for his testing on this part. - v1.2.0 has a new skin available: Terran.
Features : - Fast display - replays get only parsed once. - Displays all the basic information (realm, players names, races, APM ...). - Allow for easy relocation (to your starcraft II replay folder for example). - Displays APM graph. (New in v0.0.0.4b) - Diplays player's builds (next to their APM graphs). (New in v1.0.1 !) - Allow users to add comments on each replay (New in v1.1.0!) - A big renaming ability has been added, with lots of possibilities (New in v1.1.0!) - An auto-updater/loader will automatically notify you of new versions if you run TheOmniscientChimp.exe instead of Sc2ReplayMonkey.exe, the former will also automatically start the latter once the update is done (if there is one). (New in v1.1.0!) - A new skin is available: Terran (New in v1.2.0!)
Other Notes: You can load several replays using the "ADD FILES" button, they will get parsed and the data will be written in XML format. Once that is done, a list of available replays will be displayed on the right side of the app, and selecting one will display information about it.
You can then decide to watch it, relocate it, rename it, or delete it.
The OPTIONS button can help you simplify most tasks by automating them.
In the future, I will add key features such as : - Allowing user to comment on a replay, and that comment will be shown in the chatlog of the game (also when you watch it) - Allowing user to edit the chatlog, I think it could help people to make tutorial games: you play it using a style you want to teatch, and after the game you comment key moments in the chatlog so that you can explain stuff to the viewer. - Display APM and events (already have all the data, just hasn't been implemented yet). You won't need to parse the replays again for this to work. - Allowing user to sort a batch of replays based on: - Units used - Strategies employed (bunker rushes, etc) - etc
I am also open to ideas, if you want a feature to be implemented, state it in the comments below. I will see if it can be done.
On the "design" level, I made an architecture that allows for easy skinning. Right now only the zerg skin is done, and even that one need some rework. Last skin to do is Protoss.
Also, I might release a custom skin tool, with which you'll be able to make a skin yourself, and share it with other users. That is not for the near future though.
If you find any bug or inconsistency, please report on the comments below, or better: on the official google code page.
You can download this software Here
As stated on the official google code page, you will need to install Phalanger first.

Looks interesting, will give it a shot later.
|
Bump, need more beta testers :p
|
Someone reported to me that there was an error in the earlier release.
It is fixed in Beta v0.0.0.3
|
New version Beta v0.0.0.4.
Added APM graphs, cleaned the application's folder.
Original post reworked.
|
New version v1.0.
Phalanger is no longer required for the application to run.
Next thing on the TODO list: replay renaming, and the possibility to comment on each replay (you can finally flag the replay where you owned Huk !).
|
font and background are ugly
|
As for the font, I will probably change it, probably to Calibri. But for the background, if you don't like it, you'll have to wait for another skin to come out :p (Zerg ftw!)
|
|
You just unzip it to the folder you want.
I just added a version with an install wizzard, usual stuff: - Adds startmenu + desktop shortcuts. - Adds an uninstall entry.
The manual install will also always be available.
OP Updated.
EDIT: if a forum moderator could please rename the title of this thread from "analyzer" to "organizer" I'd very much appreciate it =)

its not working for me, i am starting the program, hitting add file, and choosing a file, but it isn't loading the file
|
Doesn't the file you just added show up on the right panel?
Basically you should see a window telling you to wait until the replays are parsed, and once it's gone, the replays you added should show up on the right panel.
Which version are you using? the installer one or the manual one?
Numerous people tried it and it worked, so something is missing from your computer, we need to find what it is, and I'll fix it asap.
|
installer version no they don't show up im not even getting the window saying wait do i need SC2 open?
|
installed the apewriter.exe, now im getting the please wait, but the apewriter is crashing
|
Are you using the latest version? (v1.0)
You don't need SC2 running, you don't even need it installed actually (only to use the "WATCH" button).
And what do you mean when you say you installed "TheApeWriter.exe" ?
The folder where you "installed" it should look like this:
Config.xml, AvailableReplays.xml, SC2_Replay_Monkey.ico and the "Replays Parsed" folder can be missing , they will get generated later on. The rest should be here.

all the files are there, its saying " theapetest has stopped working"

Alright, do this:
Go to the folder where you installed Sc2 Replay Monkey. Do the combination "SHIFT+RIGHT CLICK" on that folder. In the menu that appears, select "Open a command line here".
In that command line you type this: TheApeWriter.exe -rp:"A_REPLAY_PATH"
Don't forget the "", and of course put a valid replay path.
Since your trouble comes from here, this should crash but it will display tons of information and it's very readable for me.
The only thing I could get from what you said i that you're missing a file (thank you MS !). And last but not least, "TheApeTest" should not exist anymore (oO).
EDIT: I think it means you don't have mscorlib, but the test i described should tell us.
|
how do i put in a valid replay path?
|
it says: C:\Program Files (x86)\SC2 Replay Monkey>TheApeWriter.exe -rp:"C:\Users\NickHead y\Documents\StarCraft II\Accounts\2199760\1-S2-1-321113\Replays\Multiplayer\loss _v_socrates.SC2Replay

I'm gonna go take a look at the code, but it should be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SC2 Replay Monkey>TheApeWriter.exe -rp:"C:\Users\NickHead y\Documents\StarCraft II\Accounts\2199760\1-S2-1-321113\Replays\Multiplayer\loss _v_socrates.SC2Replay"
In my code, the reasons why you'd have this error, is if: - the replay path you inputed is empty - the file does not exist
I suggest you do the same thing, but this time you copy/paste the path to your replay from windows explorer, just to be sure that the path is correct.
PS: are you on IRC?
