Small Description from SCS: To end the semester with a bang we are hosting our very own LAN party! People of all skill levels are invited to join us at the B-Annex on Sunday, May 1st, 2011 from 10a.m. for a day filled with fun. We will be providing food and refreshments throughout the day. Invite your friends to join, they don’t have to be in the ENCS department. The more the merrier, we like to believe!!
The cost for this event is 10$ and with that you have a chance of winning various prizes. *We have 500$ in prizes to give out.
Right, I'm not a part of SCS: Software Engineering and Computer Science Society, however, we, The Concordia Starcraft Community, are working alongside them to garner more interest and participation from Quebec players and surroundings states/provinces!
General information (from what I inquired from them):
- Sign-ups are at the door with payment (10$), however please post here so we can transmit how many people are interested and thus arrange proper number of equipment. Spectators may be paying only 5$. The fee is to cover the food such as pizza
- Map-Pool is the following: MLG Metalopolis, MLG, Shakuas Plateau, MLG The Shattered Temple, MLG Tal'Darim Altar, Scrap Station, Xel'Naga Caverns and MLG ICCUP Testbug (MLG means that you cannot spawn in close-ground positions and on Shakuras, you only spawn in cross-map positions)
- Brackets is a bit sketchy as they are unsure of how to work it out, however here is the draft of their ideas: "we probably will have some matches to determine placements. After it will be a playoff style(kind of like hockey playoffs). We haven't decided on whether we will have best of 3 or just a single elimination match"
- There will be up to 500$ in prizes for participation, first-prize (presumably), etc.
- It is BYOC (bring your own computer), however power-plugs/bars and ethernet cords will be provided by the SCS
To sign-up, you simply have to pay 10$ at the door and provide your information to enlist you into the tournament.
However, what is the point of this topic? The point of this topic is to list and see how many people would be interested in this event. Although the event is already planned out and set, in terms of rooming and how much equipment we need, we need to see how many people are available and interested.
Additionally, once I give them the numbers, it may or there may be limited seating, etc.
So in others words, post here to let me know you're interested or you have the interest of coming (you can post even if you're unsure) and if you intend to bring anybody with you. Basic general information would be great as well (name, username, character code).
Thanks!
UPDATES: Al'right guys, from the word of the organizers:
The limit is probably 32 people or so. Don't worry, should be fine.
Parking is available in all of downtown where it is marked that the can park :p.
Unfortunately we can't provide parking but since the tournament is on Sunday there should be some free parking available somewhere. What they'll probably want to do is unload their equipment and then park on Doctor Pensfield street which is North of Sherbrooke.
