Hey everyone.
After being on the starcraft scene for quite some time now, I have noticed an abundance of leagues, from the GSL, NASL and so forth. However, there is no major league in Canada that players strive to play in.
It is because of this, that I'm creating a Canadian Starcraft league (CASL). However, although Canadian, select invites from the EU and the US will be invited. Below I have listed how the regular season will work. Currently, we are recruiting for the regular season, but will be playing a prelim tournament that will be played for no prize money. It will be to get accustomed to the system/bragging rights. Also, the top 4 players of the prelim will get an automatic seed in the regular season.
Once the prelim is over, the regular season will begin and the prize pool revealed.
To Sign up and play in this tournament. You must go put your name into our tournament bracket system: Tournament Sign-Up Brackets
Temporary Website
How It Works: + Show Spoiler + The Canadian Starcraft League will be season format. 4 players will get a league seed, based on the prelim. The other 28 spots will be invites. The league is seperated in 4 divisons with 8 players in each. Each player will play every other play in their respective divisions, with the top 2 players from each divison advancing to the LAN tournament, in Toronto, Ontario. The tournament and season will be 1v1 format, with single elimination. After the single elimination, we will move to best of 3, and then best of 5 for the championship.
The brackets for the top 32 will be decided when the time comes, aswell as the prize pool.
Map Pool: MLG GSL Crossfire SE MLG Scrap Station - MLG Xel’Naga Caverns - MLG Metalopolis MLG Shakuras Plateau MLG Shattered Temple MLG ICCup Testbug GSL Crevasse Ladder Tal’darim
Rules: -For best of 3 or higher, the loser must pick maps from the following map pool. -When playing best of 3 or higher, same map can't be re-used after it has been played. -Refrain from any disrespectful behavior. Please be no BM of any kind. -Only 1 race.
The registration will begin now.The Preliminary tournament will begin on May 3rd, with the brackets being sent via email / z33k.
Casters + Show Spoiler + Casting will be done via replays/live matches.

Schedule
May 2nd - End Regristration for Preliminary Tournament May 3rd - Prelim Tournament Starts After the Preliminary tournament is completed, we will have a 2 week layoff, and begin the regular season hopefully on May 30th.
The preliminary tournament will give us a chance to see the interest in the Canadian Starcraft League, and we will be able to see what changes need to be made.

Edit:
Let me be specific. Before the regular season starts, the prizes WILL be announced. So, before the season EVEN starts, you can decide. I would never have someone fly out, for no reason. And if for some reason, the prize pool isn't big enough, the Championship will be held online. That way, players can still receive a prize, without having to fly out to Toronto.

Yup. The prelims, as stated are just so we can work at any kinks, and to get suggestions from the players.

I dont mean to be rude, but a LAN finals without an announced prize isnt really worth it, is it? I mean if buddy is playing from Vancouver, why would he fly to Toronto for no reason. You may want to change this to Ontario Starcraft League, or Toronto Starcraft League, but there already is a league for Toronto.
Or just secure some sponsors and a website before going further, dont put the cart in front of the horse, nah mean. Other than that, thanks for volunteering your time !

Okay, thanks for addressing the issues that might arise in a prompt and mature manner, sending information to my players to have them sign up :D.

No problem. I understand what you meant. I'd be angry if I had to fly somewhere, to realize that there is no prize money
