Remember that story that came out a month back or so about how SC wasn't giving enough ROI for Activision to be happy - I'm sure marketing this as a single player game/expansion first is a result of that. I don't think it will make a difference in the multiplayer development, but I think it will make a difference in how they try to make the game seem more accessible to the casual crowd. Obviously this site is made up mostly of hardcore people, so it seems kind of silly to us since we will probably play the campaign on the first 2 days and then never again - or just not at all. But you can understand why they are doing this.

so, they may remove certain units or revise them. I wonder if making overlords being able to detect might be a thing they are doing. That part of the QA was the most interesting. As they talked about "failed" units like the overseer. What units do you think blizzard considered failures?
Marauders, Sentries, Colossus, etc... ok, ok, I admit that's just wishful thinking, they actually really like them

Marines are the best unit in the game and they shoot up. Terrans have the best AA options by far...
I would prefer them if they were ground units with a weaker aerial mode(they could even keep the range to act as a support unit to a new terran air unit or two), than air units with a very weak ground mode.
That describes Thors perfectly...
Since when are marines flying units and thors have the ability to transform to air?
My bad did miss the t.
Dunno why it matters that they're the only ata, just build gta to kill them. Look at tvt, people don't really build mass vikings anymore because people realised marines are pretty good.
Marketplace.. Really.. I'm not keen on the idea of commercialising the Custom Maps/Mods, in my opinion it should stay a thing done by people for the love of the game and to provide enjoyment for others, rather than financial gains. Then again, I won't be buying any so it won't affect me!
I like to chill out on customs maps and I'm not sure I'll play anymore if I'll have to pay 5$ for Desert Strike or Yabot. If you buy a custom map, you will be in your right to expect everything a paid product should be : constant upgrades, debuging, new units / fonctionalities... Are the mapmakers really ready to do this ? Can they really make money out of system ?
Another problem would be if people are still be allowed to make their own version of popular maps like Nexus Wars Words.Would you pay Nexus Wars AND Nexus Word Wars ? Blizz stated they wanted a similar model to the App store. The App store isn't a prime exemple of open minded platform where you can do anything you want... I hope Blizz won't set too much restrictions on this.

Oh sick, I read all of it. I still feel it's a bit lackluster but I can't really say whether I'm going to like it or not until Blizzcon when they reveal more about multiplayer and singleplayer.
The writers kind of wrote themselves into a corner for Heart of the Swarm, eh? + Show Spoiler +
You have Raynor rescue Kerrigan, resulting in her losing most of her Zerg abilities. So if the Zerg campaign is next you then have to have Kerrigan spend a significant portion of time regaining these same abilities, which is exactly what happened in the Zerg campaign of Brood War, although the reason for her losing her powers was different (dad died).
At the same time there is really nothing else for the Zerg to do. They've already raped half the sector twice and all they recently lost was control of their homeworld and their head - the Zerg are still numerous and scattered everywhere. A neat thing to do would be to further explore just how Kerrigan can stop the Hybrid destruction of everything, but that will lose game time to Kerrigan getting back her abilities.
As far as multiplayer goes I would look to other games for some creative unit options. + Show Spoiler +
> Protoss could have a unit like the Nod Obelisk that Void Rays could charge much like Beam Cannons did. + Show Spoiler +
It would bring back that long forgotten Void Ray combined attack and add an element of extreme range to the game. Since Colossi beams sweep the Obelisk might only be single fire, but good as an extra defensive element or clever offensive one. (A well-charged Obelisk beam could sweep across whole armies and devastate them. That was a little OP, but for the considerably weaker Nod it was OK.)
> I don't really know what the other races need, but games like AOE and C&C provide a lot of options for unit types and abilities. No one really has a unit that specializes in taking down (i.e. extra damage vs) buildings, which is something units in AOE always had.
> Starcraft 2 is still very young and it will be a while before the multiplayer hits the level of BW and is totally refined. In the meantime we should look forward to some interesting options and changes to experiment with.

Deleuze what makes you presume queens have human DNA? Broodmothers the evidence is obvious but not so much to me with queens.

Who agrees with this statement?
Not me? Starcraft is a game for hardcore gamers. The campaigns are forgotten by most people within a year, a few of us still laugh at Thank god for Nuclear Fusion, but for the most part I think they're catering to a theoretical mainstream audience that none of us have met. Sc/BW and Sc2 only thrive so ridiculously much (in comparison to another C&C or AoE sequel) because of the hardcore multiplayer community.
Probe1, see my comment on the page before yours, I quote Lore form the Blizz eu site about Queens incorporating Terran DNA

That doesn't matter or you may as well remove air units(in this case since marines/thors may do a better job than vikings). There have to be variable air options, I'm not talking about current balance at all, I'm talking about design(otherwise for example the reverse could've been said back when tanks dealt a lot more damage to light and you had to go viking/tank).
Whoever came up with this Vodoo/Ghost Dreadlikestyle Kerrigan......it looks so fucking retarded compared to the Infested or even the pre-Infested Kerrigan.

I think straight up removal would be reserved for units that either fail to be useful, or fail to work as intended. Overpowered stuff can be fixed by fiddling with numbers.

She always had that hair style. Check back to the load screen from BW. The minute she became infested her hair become spiky carapace hairs instead of normal hair. Probably because hair is dead and all that remains is the carapace shield from when it was alive? I think its pretty neat looking. Considering regular hair would look 100x worse on a zerg unit.
A: We typically don't provide details about pricing until the game is closer to release. We do view Heart of the Swarm as an expansion set, so for the regions that have a standard box business model such as North America and Europe, we will price accordingly. For other regions that have alternative business models, we’ll provide details at a later date.
Meaning, $39.99! (Or $30 like BW if i can remember correctly) Come and get the expansion set! Really, we just paied $60 for 1/3 of the game = ( Now we has to pay even more for 2/3 damn it.

WoL was not 1/3 of a game, its like saying Star Wars: A New Hope was only 1/3 of a movie...it was one game in what amounts to a trilogy. They use the term expansion, but SC1 and BW were two different games pretty much.
