This shouldn't become a discussion about how to find what's there, but a discussion on what is there.

I honestly think you have nothing to worry about unless the government has any reason to be suspicious of you in the first place.
I just wouldn't do anything that leads the cops to want to confiscate your computer. |

| You don't even get arrested for CP... at least thats what I assume in the US. In the UK you get put on the sex offenders register for 5 years and a caution. That is the worst case scenario ofc for just viewing images of it, but the police realistically won't care if you just stumbled upon that. It's a lot like drugs, they care more about finding the source and main distributors since it is a much better use of their time. (this is all under the unlikely assumption they even know you viewed any.) Last edit: 2011-06-14 10:01:29 |

IIRC its a felony, 5-20 years in jail. The punishments are also more severe the younger the child depicted is according to wikipedia.
Getting put on the sex offender list is bad enough IMO. It basically means your life is over unless you want to bag groceries for the rest of your life. ofc the people on there deserve more than that though.
Like i said though i seriously doubt anything is going to come of it. |

| Truly "deep" web sites aren't actually ever talked about on the internet, and once they are, they get abandoned fairly quick. I don't want to go into too much detail, but I've been to some online drug dealers. Really the only way you could ever get access to them is through real life connections. |

Soo... you know online drug dealers but the only way to know of them is in real life. Seems like theyre normal drug dealers then. |

if it just was a pop up or something then i dont think u would get in much trouble. like i said in a earlier post, 4chan has trolls posting CP on a monthly basis and it gets deleted quickly. the only person that will get in trouble for it is the person in POSSESSION of it. so if u accidentaly viewed it cuz some stupid troll posted it all around a site/public forums then u should be ok.
but if u were purposely looking for CP and purposely trying to view it and they can prove that then ur in deep shit. if u entered a website that had giant advertising labels that said "CP INSIDE!" then that means you willingly viewed CP while still knowing what it is. and in that case u are fucked because u viewed it willingly instead of trying to avoid it and steering clear of it.
but it all depends really if they were tracking u or not. i think you should be ok unless u were purposely trying to look for CP.Last edit: 2011-06-14 12:34:09 |

| For those asking about Snuff films, I just watched a pretty well put together documentary on the subject called "Snuff" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1237926/. It goes into some detail about the cultural history of the genre, and has some pretty shocking testimonials from various stakeholders. No idea about the truth of any of it, but its a pretty interesting watch and I would highly recommend it if you're curious about the subject. |

as for the assassination thing, there's no damn way it's real. unless the pigs are wastin' their time bustin' P2P nubs. makes you wonder..
You'll find out how real it is when that one guy i paid $100 kicks your nuts in the very near future.
I know you're kidding, but this type of shit's what brings the hate into the world. Why doesn't the world just start a cleansing project against these type of monsters? We did it to Hitler, lets do the cartel and the baby smugglers next. I'd sign up.
Yea, we were the ones with the cleansing project. Not hitler.

The CP legal issue is rather interesting. I think I live in the area which punishes CP the most, country Australia. In a town near I live, someone was sentenced to a year in jail for having Simpsons porn, which is all over the "surface web". Someday I will move somewhere where people are intelligent.
HiddenWiki is great though, categorizes everything you could possibly want to find. |

| The most shocking thing for me is how the internet has even desensitized Child Pornography into an acronym that apparently everyone understands, and I had somehow been illusive to this acronym. |

Careful there. You're treading into inflammatory territory.
Another utility the deep web provides that the OP hasn't described yet is access to devices that run on wireless networks. You can literally control any security camera remotely with the right information. Also, security cameras tend to have default passwords for particular models, similar to the way routers do, only NO ONE ever changes them.
This will allow you to spy on just about anywhere, anytime, remotely. You can even change the direction of some cameras. |

its just a poor choice of words is all. its like bush using the word "crusade" when he was talking about deploying troops to the middle east |

I know it was a poor choice of words, but I didn't know what else to compare it to. It was the first thing that popped into my head, and it sounded just about right when we're talkin about baby rapers.
I'm just sayin something like this has to be done sooner or later. Maybe when we stop fighting each other we'll take care of the big problems.
the pen just isn't good enough IMO. |

Just shows we all live in our little boxes. My question is to those saying "truly deep" websites, can you describe an example? Would it be a website that advertises some type of underground gladiator ring fights? How deep is deep? |

Its good for gore and thats about it. Sure theres CP, which is disgusting as well.
However, there hasnt been an assassination completed EVER afaik. Most of Deep Web is just random bullshit. Please dont make it look like your some 1337 hacker as well, #2 is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever heard in my life, use a proxy and some common sense as well as no script and you are good to go.
I also think you are playing the "scare factor" up enormously for people that know nothing about this kind of stuff.
this.
