The good thing for you zerg players out there is that July just moved up to second spot.
Nine months ago, yellow was among the top three gamers; since then, no zerg has EVER made it into the top three. It was pure Terran domination.
|
omg look at gorush, +8 wtf well boxer and yellow 14 and 13 sux too
|
|
How the farry are Nal_ra and Kingdom ahead of Reach?!
Reach has been the only one to do anything significant in recent times.
|
TheMarine, GoodFriend, and Midas dont deserve to be over boxer and yellow ><
|
|
absolutely have no idea about boxer's quick dropping
he's been doing sth decent recently
there're several other gamers who's standing an unreasonable place according to this list imo
|
This ranking is definitely fucking retarded.
There are many huge "wtf" points, but let's take one stat randomly : - Oov won 10 points (yes, 10) for winning OGN Starleague - JulyZerg won 245 points for winning KT-KTF Starleague
Yeah, sure.
|
July and Gorush are putting zerg on the map. :O Nada could win both leagues tho O_o Sucks for Boxer and Yellow.
|
But oov was already ranked #1 so winning wouldn't move him up much. I'm sure the people deciding how to rank these people are doing a better job than we would. I however will not be happy until I see a toss as #1.

Yeah, sure.
people that think like this are missing the point of the KeSPA format, which is the players performance over the past year, meaning every month, everything the players did 13 months ago is erased and replaced with the next updated month
oov only looked like +10 point gain for OGN starleague is because probably 12 months ago before that he won another tourney (MSL maybe) or somehow got a lot of points that OGN only was 10 points more.
i'm guessing that this ranking refreshes KT-KTF league which makes a lot of sense Nada (the winner) drops down 2 places because he won it, but now it doesn't count anymore because it was 13 months ago Boxer (runner up i believe) also drops because he hasn't done anything similar to it this past month July (who i don't think was even in KT-KTF last year and now has won it) obviously jumps up several places. same goes for GoRush who probably wasn't doing much this time last year and now has runner up
thats just how the ranking goes

that does make sense, but why the hell is nal_ra 5th?

Okay, let's admit it. Though it definitely does give the impression that whenever a player does something great, it's still worse than 13 months ago, and whenever he's slumping, he was even more slumping back then (exceptions being Gorush and Julyzerg, this month).
I'd definitely prefer a simple ranking system with each player earning/losing points depending on his performance of the current month (and without erasing what he achieved x months ago).

July is my favorite overweight zerg player! (fu mumyung)
|
Gorush is my favorite ''no hair in the forehead'' zerg player

basically what you want is just a continuous ranking system?
the point of KeSPA is that its supposed to be "current" rankings, you can't call it a current system if players still retain points from years ago, on top of that, it would make it incredibly difficult for new players to enter rankings as players like garimto, boxer, grrr, nada, and oov would be permanently on the top as they have multiple league wins, a ranking can't be considered seriously as a good current measure if they' never delete old stuff like from 1998!!!
of course they also can't take into account only the past month because thats much too short a period.
so all that kespa is is the official ranking for the last year, thats the reasong nal_ra is up there, because he won a starleague within the past year even though hes been slumping basically since that. it doesn't claim to be a perfect ranking system, but its not that bad really (although theres a lot of flaws too like WCG being worth a ton of points)
