will a 560 be bottlenecked by my amd phenom x4 3.2ghz cpu
also can i get a good 'modern' graphics card that's decently priced, i haven't been keeping up with hardware releases lately sadly, friend recommened a 560 to replace my hd5770 so if anything ill just get that i guess.
and an i5 2500k in the future

Not the best suggestion from your friend. hd5770 to gtx 560 is a fairly significant upgrade but not enough that I would say it justifies the ~$160 price tag. If you can wait, the next-generation GPU's are starting to come out in December and it would be better to buy one of those.

And the GPU will not be bottlenecked by a Ph2 x4 (read: below 60FPS) in the vast majority of games.

GPU depends on your resolution and games though, I am assuming 1920x1080 and new games at high/max settings. Can't make the best judgement without knowing those for sure.

oh it was phenom II?

Well 975X is from like 2005 and hence I think it might be too old for the new pentiums, I really am just using logic here and don't have any proof for this apart from it also not being listed on the intel site.

I personally would probably opt to just play it safe and go for a core 2 duo processor that's guaranteed to be compatible, but in reality it really isn't that costly to just go the H61 route.

That's actually exactly how my brain processed it. I didn't even notice there wasn't a " II " in there the first time, just saw 3.2GHz and that's what my brain told me. Of course it could be an overclocked first generation.

I've had my computer for over a year now. Using a GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard, I've tolerated the GUI MFC Application permission popup on startup, but figured I'd finally ask about turning it off in an attempt to reduce my startup/idle RAM use and be less annoying. I know it's used for the ET6 Program, which is used to OC and check temperatures.

I've only used ET6 a few times to check my CPU temps and I am content that I am not having any overheating problems with my i7 930 OC'd to 3.15 GHz. (Although maybe Skyrim is pushing my HD5770) From what I've searched, the only answer to the GUI MFC popup is to uninstall ET6. Has anyone else encountered this issue, or have any tips regarding whether ET6 is good to have or not?

Yeah I think I'll go with the E7500, it's supported by my mobo and isn't that much slower than the pentium dual cores.

Thanks.

All Gigabyte software is rubbish. In fact, all manufactures pack rubbish software with their hardware. The only software you should ever need are the drivers and anything Intel official like their Intel Smart Response Technology package for Z68 motherboards.

Hey, thought I'd post here instead of making a new thread.

I'm looking to buy a new laptop and, of course, I would like to run SC2 on it (with no lag). Which of the following processors is better:

Intel Core i5 Dual Core i5-2520M with 3MB cache @ 2.50GHz
or
Intel Core i7 Quad Core i7-2670QM with 6MB cache @ 2.20GHz ?

I'm assuming it's the i7 but the i5 seems to run faster. Thanks to anybody who answers this.

i7 is better for multi-threaded tasks, i5 is better for threads that aren't well multi-threaded (gaming).

Very interesting how no one even noticed this post.

But anyways, to the person who posted this: You're using the wrong SQSA thread, this one is only for tech support

Hi boyz

My SCII is running smoothly on most maps, but bigger stuff like Terminus and at higher pops (close to 200) fps starts to drop.

(A64 6000+, 9800gt, 2gb ram)

Is it safe to say that the FPS drop on big maps/high pops is caused due to a bottleneck in RAM, and not cpu/gp?

Thanks

Depends on the quality, but both the RAM and the CPU are suspects I definitely would suggest you to try moving up to 4gb, can't hurt and it's cheap.

I don't think an X1860 exists, X1800 should barely run it. Try updating your Catalyst drivers:

Just wanted to know what sort of towers I could look at if I wanted a pretty small one, I am currently building a computer with the following parts so far (also would like opinions on these, if they go together or if theres an issue, I dont know comps well enough)

Core i5 2400
radeon hd 6950
8G Kit 1333 G.Skill Ripjaws-X
G-B H61M-USB3
Lian-Li(Lancool) PC-K58
Seagate ST3500413AS Barracuda 7200.12 500 GB Internal Hard Drive
Antec Neo Eco 450

to play Battlefield 3 on, and want as small a tower as possible. Dont know enough about towers so I am not sure if I am forced to use a certain size or type or anything, so as much info on what my options are in regards to a small tower would be very appreciated :D

Silverstone TJ08-E and the Antec NSK3480 are better options. A little bit taller but not as wide or long.
