By some people's logic in this thread that it'd be okay for any caster to get drunk and to start dropping f-bombs everywhere and yell profanity. Okay, so we can hold wheat and company on a lesser standard because....why? I think they should be accountable just like everyone else.
A lo3 at a barcraft isn't a professional environment so yeah, their actions were perfectly ok. What do you see when you walk into a bar at midnight? The same fucking thing. Get off your high horse. |

Agreed 100%. These are supposedly the leaders of our community, and if that is the case then I am very disappointed. It sickens me to think that these people have followers who blindly endorse their bad behavior and fail to see the negative light being shined on our community as a result. |

It's pretty shameful, especially when djWheat spends an enormous amount of time arguing that he isn't "ruining" eSports, to see his involvement in such a disgusting excuse of a show. At a time when SC2 is on the verge of becoming a widely broadcast, and potentially even televised event, it is just tremendously upsetting to see these sad demonstrations of behavior are leading the way. You're all grown men on Live on Three, maybe it's time you start acting like it.
Speaking of highlighting the community at its worst...
You tuned into a 3am (12 pst) broadcast from a bar where 2 men were getting their heads shaved over a bet. Sorry they didn't deliver on maturity that nobody ever guaranteed to you. If the success of e-sports hinges upon these 3 men at this specific moment in time, then so be it. If the cost of e-sports succeeding is not being able to enjoy oneself, then I'm happy to see it 'fail.'
For somebody so apparently on the straight-and-narrow, somebody so mature, you certainly don't seem to understand that whether we're pillars of the community or simple fans, we're all people, and we all like to have a good time.
Nobody who isn't caring and passionate cares about the success or failure of e-sports. So instead of being a jerkoff because they loosen up and have fun on an atypical friday BARCRAFT show, try to recognize that they are as human as you and I, and that Slasher being loud and drunk won't bring the institution of e-sports crashing down around us. If you can't enjoy it, fine. Don't tune in. You can bastardize them for ruining e-sports when you've done half as much for half as long as the folks on that stage.Last edit: 2011-10-22 16:53:39 |

Ya I really do love the live events they have been doing. It is such a relaxed atmosphere and it really just seems like it is 3 guys getting together to argue about esports/video games and whatever else... probably because that is exactly what it is. In any event, I love it. Good stuff imo!

Honestly, I just feel that comments like these are just looking to criticize something. In other words, I don't doubt that you truly have the thoughts you are mentioning, but it almost seems artificial based on everyone wanting esports to grow, which leads to people calling others out if they act "unprofessional." I think the reality is that this was clearly meant to just be a fun time, and anyone can understand that.
If you are worried that this will "make esports look bad" then I have to disagree. People are able to distinguish a international tournament, and how it produces its show, and separate it from some guys getting drunk and yelling at each other. I think a fair comparison would be comparing some random sports after party being streamed/filmed. Would you personally judge a sport based on how some people party and have fun? I just can't imagine that someone wouldn't be able to separate the two events in their mind.
Hopefully what I'm trying to say is clear. My mind is a bit clouded now.Last edit: 2011-10-22 16:56:10 |

So screw professionalism and act like a drunken fool with the fame you have?
I don't give a fuck about professionalism and I'm glad they were having a good time. Slasher is just a super annoying belligerent drunk and that's probably what people are complaining about. Even when I'm drinking I avoid people like that in bars. Scoots and Wheat were fine.
i agree, but people are acting like it was in the middle of blizzcon being shoved down their throat between a starcraft game, when they could have just clicked EXIT, as it was just a minor stream from a club.
Well people always cry about dumb shit like that. Check this thread, 'professional' is used 95 times. People think everything is unprofessional or hurting ESPORTS and it's silly. I don't mind them drinking, I'm just saying Fuck Slasher, is all.

holy shit i gotta leave this thread before my head explodes at the sheer fact people are complaining about this
it's a stream from a bar, labeled friday night barcraft, nothing forcing you to watch it, its not killing esports, so get off your high horses and stop criticizing people for doing nothing wrong
for all the people that enjoyed it and laughed as much as i did when slasher looked like a bafoon with half his hair, goodnight. |

Stop being such pretentious douchebags and act like adults. The starcraft audience isn't mainly kiddos. Quite a bunch of us are the age of wheat, scoots, etc and realize there's nothing wrong with having a good time every now and then. |

| I don't think my opinion matters much but I'll say it anyway. Slasher should never be allowed on mic when intoxicated ever again. In my eyes, and hopefully only my own, tonight went a long way to prove he has little no value beyond trolling, and no reposting information everyone already knows (which seemingly makes up a great deal of his public work) to "spread the word" doesn't count as value. Please send him back to Quake or the fighting scene where going after co-hosts and friends on multiple drunken tirades is acceptable. Then again I'm biased as hell towards Wheat and Scoots for the amount of actual effort they put into what they do. I'm sure some will think all these thoughts laughable but I can't not post my measly two cent when #fuckslasher went from a joke to the first thought that pops in my head. I am so disappointed at the length of the Episode. The thing was like 15-20 minutes and if you weren't on the ball you missed it. Seriously who cares if they swear, talk shit or what ever. Also getting drunk is part of SC2, I mean come on a bunch of nerds together on a Friday night and you don't think there will be any drinking??? Get with the 2010s bro. The majority of us here are 13 years of age or older and have used all of these terms frequently and almost daily.
The biggest travesty was the time limit. Last edit: 2011-10-22 16:58:14 |
