Yes, it has only been out for a week at this point (and is still only available to a very limited number of users), but based on what we’re seeing, the social network is already sending a large amount of traffic our way.
How large? Well, since its launch last Tuesday, Google+ has already cracked our top ten referring sites. It currently resides just behind Digg in that timespan. If you narrow that down to just count July so far (a few days after launch, so more users had time to sign up), the numbers are even better. It would already be the number seven referrer, just behind Hacker News. And it’s already a fifth as large as the leading social referrer, facebook.com.

That's exactly why he's on G+
*edit* Wow, a spelling error on a Google page :D Sorry, just had to post it.
Texting is great, but not when you’re trying get six different people to decide on a movie. Huddle takes care of it by turning all those different conversations into one simple group chat, so everyone gets on the same page long before thumbs get sore.

Given the tiered friend list structure (i.e. circles), I am guessing you can make many people follow you on a highly restricted circle. So is this like Tweeter? If Google+ can be a fusion of Tweeter and Facebook, I see much potential in this.
Still, like many people pointed out, Google+ has some learning curve. I am going to assume that for the foreseeable future, it will only attract users from certain categories. Most lay-users are still going to go with Facebook.
Interesting, isn't it?

This is easily attributed to the hype it has gotten. What will matter is how many of those people will actually stay
Something to keep in mind is that Google own the most used search engine. If posts on googleplus and +1 from users influence the referencing, it will be too hard to counter from other companies. Web developers and websites are gonna use google+ more and more to have better referencing and no one can do nothing about that. And it's a good thing.
From my point of view, Facebook is a popular website. Google is a multi-service empire.

doesnt g+ have that, but with group conferencing too? seems like they win in every category
But if it is on facebook now, will it convince you to remain on Facebook? Since I've been using skype forever, I just see this as a convenience thing more than anything.

i stopped using skype as much as possible (using raidcall eg for playing sc2 with friends) as the software got more and more bloated (including the facebook integration) and more and more buggy (more downtime then ever recently).
also the facebook/skype integration only allows 1to1 as far as i saw so far. Google+ with the hangouts give groupchat/video.
but only time will tell who will suceed but i dont think both services will survive.

I think most ppl will still remain on facebook but will use more google+. Just like you use facebook but you still have MSN.
Facebook just cannot offer what G+ offers; email, pictures, circles, calendars, contacts, everything android related.
Facebook has stayed the same too long. They should have included email and group video chat a long time ago.
And does facebook video chat is really 1on1? wtf ?
I've gotten quite a few PM for Invites, I will send them all when I get home. I usually remove people after I've sent them invites but I though I could start a TL circle.
So don't be surprised if you see I've added you to a circle, and I encourage you to do the same with me
