With the announcement of Intel Extreme Master's first event in season 6, we'd like to share the details on how to qualify for North, South, and Central America.
2 players from the Americas are eligible to attend the IEM Global Challenge at Gamescon. Here is how we will determine who those two players will be:
American Qualifier Championship Bracket:
16 players will be seeded into a double elimination bracket. Every round of the tournament will be best of 3. The player to take first place in the Winner Bracket, and the Player take first place in the Loser Bracket will be qualified for the IEM Global Challenge. Here is the breakdown of how those 16 seeds will be determined:
-4 to Invitees
-4 Qualification slots at Go4SC2 -Cup 70 - July 3rd 2011
-4 Qualification slots at Go4SC2 Cup 71 - July 6th 2011
-4 Qualification slots at Go4SC2 Cup 72 - July 10th 2011
2 IEM slots at American Final (Championship Brackets) - July 13th - 16th 2011
This means you have 3 chances to qualify for for the championship brackets. The top 4 players of each Cup from North, South, or Central America will qualify for Championship Bracket. The faster you can qualify, the better your seed will be.

Did you seriously not invite Fenix, who won IEM North America? Or Qxc, who got 2nd at IEM North America last year ?
Instead you invite 2 players who afaik didn't even qualify last year? IdrA and SeleCT are great players but this seems kinda unfair to people who have performed well in your event... |

Fenix is going to GSL. We were going to invite until we received that news. And Qxc is in korea also.

This year since IEM is working a little differently, we are only a qualifier event. The only prize given is the the default $50 we give to Go4SC2 Cup Winners.

I mean, you should at least talk to us before randomly deciding to invite other people #_# ... For this event of course Fnatic would send him even if he is in Korea. I'm glad you decided to clear this up though. |

Let me see if I understand this right:
American Championship bracket has 16 players -- this is a double elim tournament and the top 2 will advance to IEM Gamescon?
And the Go4SC2 NA tournamnts + invites will qualify players for the championship bracket? |

| Yea was have a tight deadline this time, had to be finished by july 17th, the next IEMs coming up a few months will hopefully be more flexible. |

Really been enjoying the European IEM qualifiers today, keep up the nice work, tough that there's other tournaments at the same time, but you guys gotta do what ya gotta do and shouldn't have to worry too much if it interferes with other qualifiers ! |
