Man I can't say how upset I am that Hodgson has not picked Micah Richards or Kyle Walker for the England squad. It's an embarrassment. Glen Johnson is a great attacking force but walker rapes him for pace and richards for strength. We are blessed in England with amazing diversity at right back and he has only picked one of the 3 amazing choices...he should have taken at least one of the others. He says he cut back on defenders so he could have more attackers...he's trying to say Phil Jones would be able to 'phil' in for glen if he got injured...but phil jones is a slow ass shitty young CB who couldn't beat micah richards and kyle walker for pace if their feet were tied together. Why not just cut out either james milner or gareth barry. We'd still have 2 left wingers (young + downing), 4 midfielders (lampard gerrard parker milner/barry) and 2 right wingers (ox and theo). Also I'm pretty surprised Welbeck got the nod above Sturridge but maybe it was down to attitude and ability to play selflessly. Sturridge got more goals with less game time and imo is a more exciting and dynamic player. Welbeck's arms are too long and he drags them around weirdly. ALthough then again so does papiss cisse, his arms fly around like this monkey:

He needs space and in Dortmund 10 men constantly run to create it. This is a random youtube skill video, but the second half of it demonstrates exactly that. I dont think in the last 4 minutes there is one scene where not half oh his team is sprinting somewhere. He is great on the counter or with his teammates opening spaces but whether he will fit united, judge yourself.
Good summary.
I think United would like to play that way. If you watched how the team played at the beginning of the season, when Cleverley and Anderson were healthy, and Welbeck, Jones, and Smalling had runs of good form, the team was very fluid and creative. Defense suffered a bit but this was more than offset by goal scoring. When the injuries started hitting, players like Carrick, Park, and Giggs had to run the midfield, and they are not suited for that kind of game. Scholes coming back helped United's performance, but it also took them further away from the really fluid attacking style they had in the early season.

Walker is injured Reason he didn't go. Not even Capello has picked Richards as of late ;; very sad.
Richards and Jones have the same style at full-back. "Marauding" is the term Personally, I would take those two and leave Johnson at home - Johnson cannot defend.
EDIT:
It is easy to make a good XI out of that England squad, even though I don't agree with some of the choices. So I'm trying not to be as pessimistic as most other people I know.
EDIT2:
Also, Owen hasn't been offered a new contract by United T_T
I feel sorry for him, he scored a lot of goals for the minutes he had on the pitch and yet never really got a chance to play enough games. For example, after scoring a hat-trick against Wolfsburg, he was dropped for the next game. It's a shame he couldn't play more.
Still, he gave me one of my best football moments in the last few years. I was stood in a pub wearing my Owen jersey when this happened:
(I wish I could find a better video).

I'm still unsure about the M'Vila deal. I mean, we have Song, and we have up and comings in Frimpong and Coquelin. Sure, M'Vila, by all accounts, is a good player and a solid defmid, probably better at covering the defenders than Song is, who likes to get forward. But shouldn't we be concentrating on our back line than signing another midfielder?
edit: Also shocking choices in the England squad for the Euroes. I mean, Rooney, despite being banned for the first two games, is a must. The forward line....meeeeeh. I probably would have gone for Crouch over Carroll, but I guess he has had a bit of form recently and maybe Hodgson thinks he can get more out of him than Dalgleish did. Speaking of Liverpool players...
Downing? Seriously, what the fuck. The guy doesn't have a single goal or assist this year. I'll repeat that: the left winger, who's job it is to beat the fullback and get the ball in the box, doesn't have a single assist or goal this whole year. He isn't that good at the best of times, and now you're taking him to the Euros on the back of the worst form of his career...? Can anyone actually come up with a reason for this, other than 'We need a left sided player'? For me, Adam Johnson, hands down, should be going in front of him. Despite a lack of playing time at City he's contributed a hell of a lot more over the season. Hell, I'd play Young here instead. And Glen Johnson at right back? Really? Another member of a vastly underachieving team this year, and has apparently never learned to defend. Decent going forward but cannot tackle or position himself to save his life. Richards should be here, 100%.
Looking at the lineup I can see we're not going 4-3-3. I'll guess our normal, stodgy 4-4-2 will be the backup, and we'll play 4-5-1 with both Lamps and Gerrard in the middle with Parker just behind, because hey, that's always worked in the past. Poor selection albeit in a very short space of time without being able to work with his squad. I think we'll struggle to finish second behind France in the group and get knocked out in the first knockout regardless of who we play.
Yeah i totally agree, Don't understand why carrick isn't in the squad either, lampard and Gerrard don't work well together take one, and put carrick in the middle too, he was playing really well for untied and might offer something different. Sure hes not a world class goal scoring midfielder but hes got experience and hes on form,
On a different note, as united fan can someone who watches bundesliga tell me what they think of Shinji Kagawa? apparently hes coming to united (pretty strong rumors, not just tabloid trash, its confirmed he flew to Britain to talk to fergie the other day ect.) he looks good on youtube videos, but so do a lot of players.

Kagawa is pretty awesome, he's the best number 10 in the Bundesliga this season. As a Bayern fan he's hurt my heart many times this season, but i can not be angry on him cuz he's really awesome ;_;.
This guy is deadly with his passes and his quick head, he would actually suit to Barcelona if there would be no Messi on the same position ... He's fast, has great control, has great understanding of the game and shines in Dortmund's combination play. Only weakness is the rather weak finishing (although he scored a lot of goals for Dortmund) ...

He wont take the Liverpool job, remember he did the same last season when Villa came calling, he will turn it down for one more season at Wigan im sure.
Villa owner Randy Learner flew out to Norway today to discuss the managerial vacancy with Ole Gunnar Soljskear to give him the job if you beleive reports..
To be fair, liverpool are probably going to make him an offer he can't refuse. Liverpool still have a top half team (barely), unlike villa who look to be the next bolton.
Injury News - Only injury concern i can honestly give is Flourent Malouda as he picked up a calf strain in the last league game of the season vs Blackburn and has not been in training all week, just been jogging and gym work inside. Cahill and Luiz will be fit and will be playing in the Chelsea central defense in the game.
Possible Line Ups There is two possible formation and line ups Roberto DiMatteo will play against Bayern, most have been forced onto him thanks to the suspensions the players have picked up, the following are my opinions Standard Chelsea 4-2-3-1 Or the 4-3-3 they have used vs Barcelona
Suspended: John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, Ramires, Raul Meireles
Injury News No injury news that i am aware of, VanBuyten is back in training as i am aware and has been for the past few weeks, if they wanted him to play CB im sure he will be available to do so.
Possible Line Ups Possible they go 4-2-3-1 with Muller Robben Ribery and Gomez all on from the start Or this formation which i find a bit more unlikely due to the fact VanBuyten hasnt played much
Suspended: Holger Badstuber, David Alaba, Luiz Gustavo
FC Bayern will be looking to add a 5th Champions League (European Cup) trophy to their vast collection they have aquired over the years, whilst Chelsea will be looking to start their collection with a first. Many tip Bayern to be favorites for the game not only because they are a good team and would probably edge it on a footballing scale but the fact they get to play the final of a the biggest competition in Europe in their backyard.
Gomez vs Drogba
Drogba vs Gomez is going be the key to both teams victory, can Gomez boss the Chelsea back four into submission and dominate like he did vs Real Madrid, or will Drogba get the better of Boateng and whoever his partner is (all be it he turns up) and Chelsea get to play off him and win the game that way. Will be key these two have good games for the goals to be high in the match in my opinion, but who knows Chelsea can defend and well Bayern are German they know what it takes to win.
Robbery vs Chelsea Defence
So, we all know how good Robben and Ribery are, fantastic pace the pair of them, with Robben the quicker of the two and fantastic feet to be able to do what they want with the football. Whether its beating a man to cross or beating a man to get a pop shot on goal Robben and Ribery have done fantastically well this season, and it brings to the question can they do it in the big game? If they do Chelsea will have huge problems in there back four (not first choice back four) and might be overwhelmed by the pace and skill of the Bayern wingers. However if Chelsea shut up shop in the fashion they did vs Barcelona Ribery and Robben should be no problems for them and could be dangerous on the counter attack (Personally i think this will be the way Chelsea play this game). Chelsea have defended like kings to get through their semi final whilst Bayern expressed themselves in the Bernabeu to get into there home final, so how will it go? Chelsea defence dictate or will Bayern's offense obliterate?
