You'd be surprised at the number of hacks on the fish server, infact, a korean on this server who i met and played a couple of games with seemed friendly towards the beginning, but gradually started to seem peculiar. When another korean I met on Fish (who happens to be a REALLY nice guy) came into the room and the first korean and I played a game, his wLauncher kicked in and he told me he was hacking.
Prior to this, the night before he told me plenty of people on Fish hack, and that I NEEDED to get wLauncher to detect these hacks as soon as possible.
TL;DR: Several users hack on Fish, and you need wLauncher to prevent it; you can't use mini.
This thread will teach you how to install wLauncher to detect people hacking on Fish. You can still use the other thread for learning about Korean etiquette and advice on Fish. You can also find the registry file which you need to be able to connect to fish server. You can find this here
Here is where you can download wLauncher
First off: When you click on the wLauncher page, you start with this page:

Your probably looking blankly, staring into it "wtf". No need! Just click the button saying wLauncherSetup.exe. Yes, the blue one! Simple as that. Now you Download :O

Open the exe when it's finished downloading and start it up
A window that looks kinda like:

will appear (maybe different if korean somehow works for you)
From here just click Left, Right (sometimes it glitches on this screen so you install with adds, make sure you get on the screen where the optional adds installs are ticked and untick them!!!) Middle, Click the button near the directory to install if you want to change it then click the button in the Middle!

Now that it's installed, all I need to show you is what each tab on the Launcher looks like/Is.

Now, Incase you couldn't read the image, the tabs on the top are from left to right:
Home/Advertisements, Notices, Plug Ins, Settings, Chat Channel Logs, and the final one being - I don't have a fucking clue and neither does my Korean friend.
On the Bottom we have
(First Green) Start Starcraft, (Second Green) Update, (First Red) Open Starcraft Folder/Directory, (Second Red) Open Launcher Folder,(The Blue Button) the wLauncher website, and the Final small browny-green one being - Advertise Here!
Almost Done! Don't worry. All you need to do now is turn on the plug ins and i will teach you how to optionally change the settings so that Starcraft starts automatically as soon as you turn on wLauncher, Which you can do in the Plug ins and Settings tab in just a couple of seconds :D. First off, go to the Plug Ins tab (the 3rd tab), as mentioned above. And make sure you click wDetector. Done! That's it! Now you have antihack on on the the korean servers!

Now If you want to make starcraft start automatically as soon as you turn on wLauncher all you need to do is go to the fourth tab, and tick the first box on the bottom.

Now thats it! All you need to do is start the game via the launcher(you can fiddle with the other plug ins if you like!)
Also, pressing space bar opens Starcraft on the Launcher.
And one final thing, and most importantly, GL HF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - TL FIGHTING!!!
P.S Sorry if this guide is sloppy, it's my first one. PM me if you would like to fix anything in my post!
Oh, Edit: I forgot to mention the most important part. My Korean friend says the way it alerts you is with korean writing, but it also comes up with a sound. Sorry for not mentioning it in my original post, I'm truely sorry.

I can verify this, this is the only way you get wDetector and all its lovely features working. If you guys are wondering how to do this, just make sure you can type in Korean, and turn on the Korean and type "sksms gksrnrdls" (should come out as "나는 한국인") in the game lobby, and wDetector will work for the rest of your playing time. Otherwise, wDetector really won't do anything other than keep track of who's joined your games previously and few other things.
Read the rest of the thread for an update and I will make sure to update how to do it all

| Great post but do i need to launch minilauncher too? Because if you ladder and you dont have minilauncher i assume nobody will want to play against you(?). |

wLauncher essentially does the same thing as minilauncher, so you wouldn't need to run them both ^^ |

Ok it's a good news, i thought minilauncher was mandatory to play on fish, but if it's working with this one i'll try it for sure. Also i can confirm that some koreans cheat on fish, especially drop hack (if they use drop hack i suppose they also use maphack).
A bit more details on how this antihack works, does it only tell you the opponent hack or it does something else like telling you what kind of hack? If you can provide us a screenshot of a hack detected in game that would be usefull too

I only recently just installed it after my friend told me too, but I think korean text comes up, which already comes up already when the game starts to confirm you use a launcher to the opponent, but obviously most foreigners can't speak korean so we can't tell. As well as that though, luckily, my friend said there was a sound alert at the beginning, so you'd be able to tell by that.
It detects because the hack they use is an autosplit and maphack, And it tells from how it's all split. I'm not 100% certain myself, but It's something like that.Last edit: 2011-08-07 13:27:55 |

I only recently just installed it after my friend told me too, but I think korean text comes up, which already comes up already when the game starts to confirm you use a launcher to the opponent, but obviously most foreigners can't speak korean so we can't tell. As well as that though, luckily, my friend said there was a sound alert at the beginning, so you'd be able to tell by that.

you can, but the latency changer wont work unless they're also using a wlauncher/mini/chao launcher. the iccup launcher is special in the way it only works with other iccup launchers and none of the other launchers.
to get the latency working with non-iccup launchers you need to put #L2 at the end of your game title. |

theyre two seperate launchers, and they both have antihack.
if you play on korean servers, probably use wlauncher, and if you play on iccup, use the iccup one with antihack.
iccup has its own individual launcher, and pops up with a message at the beginning with antihack, but korean servers use all different types of launchers and dont. wLauncher tells you at the beginning of the game if the opponents hacking by seeing how the opponents split (the most common korean hack is oblivion, and its a map hack and an autosplit, it sees how the opponent splits to determine if the opponents hacking) |

does this matter if you only play #LL/L1/L2 games?
I always thought that nobody could hack while using a launcher but I met a super suspicious guy before so idk. |

| I hope it detects map hack and can counter drophack too because if it only checks the way your opponent splits its workers it's pretty weak as this feature can probably be deactivated. |

I have no clue, but if my launcher didn't detect his hacks an d then as soon as he used his launcher it warned him something must be up

With the oblivion hack which has the autosplit and the maphack from my knowledge it protects from the split, and he said about 90% of users use both features. To be honest, I'm suprised that figures that high, because if you turned it off you could go undetected and an autosplit isn't that important.
But in my opinion - if you can have the opportunity to tell if he's hacking or not - regardless of if it only works with autosplit - then why not.Last edit: 2011-08-08 05:08:45 |

Hahah I really just don't get it. You guys persist on playing on a server, in a language you can't understand, with no tech support, no anti-hack support, no feedback in a language you can type, let alone read .... and you STILL have to #LL.
Even BNET 2.0 sounds better than that.
Then again, sometimes I'll just let people drag themselves through the mud; they clearly enjoy it, and the only way to convince them otherwise is to leave them (to) be (hacked). |

its better than not getting any games on iccup. theres also more variety of skill, and its generally higher. |
