And from my perspective: The reason why it is popular isn't important. It could have become popular because it was the only show that they would allow in US prisons and it wouldn't change any of the reasons why I like it. |

That was the reaction I had, and the reaction most male viewers of the series had when we were introduced as well. Surprisingly, some would argue shockingly, the main demographic that watches MLP are males aged 15-35. Thats right,
i dont find that so surprising. sailor moon, powerpuff girls,totally spies, card captors, hamtaro, etc were all aimed at little girls but they were all popular enough that both male/female of many age groups watched it.

yup which explains why it became so popular so fast. my little pony is something that could have failed epically or became a great success depending on who is behind it. in this case it was a success because some very talented people knew what they were doing.

| People always mention PPG and Foster's because of Faust, but I think it's also worth mentioning that a lot of the great and wacky facial animation comes from the Ed, Edd and Eddy animators who moved to this show. There are writers from Dexter's Laboratory aboard as well. The voice actresses have pretty impressive resumes and are some of the best in the business for cartoons. Overall it's probably got one of the most talented teams in all of cartoons working on it right now, and the show has a pretty serious budget behind it. The fact that it's done in Flash does save money in the animation area, but character animations seem to be entirely keyframed and thus look far better than most Flash cartoons. |

The talent behind the show is definitely impressive. The voice actors enlisted are top notch as well, e.g. Twilight is voiced by the same person who did Rikku in FFX.

Well you seem open minded enough to try the show out. Try watching at least a few more episodes and see if it doesn't change your mind.
