No, this is not a joke/trolling thread. We don't need more filler posts asking if it is.
Remember to spoiler season 6 content, and clearly label your spoilers. |

I tried watching several episodes and just could not see what there is to like about it. I am 23 years old, I used to watch cartoons and have enjoyed many of them, but I could not help but feel like I was wasting my time throughout all of the first couple of episodes. Why do you like this show? Can anyone convince me that I should give it another chance? The appeal for me is the great writing. The characters are presented as having shallow and pigeonholed personalities but they constantly change in subtle ways. Let me list a few dichotomies:
-Twilight Sparkle thinks her teacher (Celestia) is extremely narrow-minded and quick to punish while Celestia always ends up being fully understanding of everything that ever happens in the show. So you're left to wonder why she thinks that.
-Fluttershy has bouts of wanting to be assertive and intimidating but prefers her usual personality that keeps her from being alienated from her friends.
-Rarity aspires to be more showy and snob than she is but always has more success and happiness when she sticks true to her simple roots. They don't spell it out but if you watch the Rarity episodes you can see this theme developing. Talking about the flight of Icarus and the fact that her most popular dress is the simplest one she made for Twilight.
I could go on for hours but the formula of the show is that Twilight Sparkle learns something about friendship every episode (friendship being a catch-all term for ethics, morality and general getting-along... -ism), they spell out what she learned at the end of the episode but there is often a lot of nuance and interesting twists before getting to that point. The writers always have intelligent stuff in the episodes that gives me something to think about. That says something because I studied philosophy for years.
Another good part of the show is the songs. They are awesome. This day aria, Winter Wrap-Up, Cider2000, Smile, perfect stallion, May the best pet win, etc.
Finally there is a lot of humor as the show develops. Not my favorite part of the show but it's there.

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

I noticed this show on Netflix the other day and decided to finally see what all the fuss is about. I watched the first two episodes and enjoyed them thoroughly. The writing is clever and the characters are likable.
Bronies, respect.

Take a picture pre eye-stabbing so we can remember what you looked like when you were beautiful.

I agree with Frigo, it gets funner as you go. There's an very interesting sci-fi/fantasy vibe behind all the 'cuteness'. The stories are good, the jokes aren't stupid, the characters are 'real.' I've only seen 13 full episodes and it's been fun.
BTW, Pinkie Pie is best pony (for now)

Because I know there's someone here that will enjoy this, Hasbro's putting out a set with Lotus in it.

I don't know why the "Spa Pony" set has Zecora and Pinkie instead of Aloe, but whatever.

BronyCraft 3: News and Info Post
Oh yeah, this thing needs to be finished...
A couple months back I decided to host this tournament, and due to a combination of multiple things (getting back in shape, university BS like usual, and general laziness) the main event has been delayed a bit longer than I hoped.
Well, now's as good a time as any to finish this thing up, and I'mma need as much help from you guys as possible for this to run smoothly. First thing's first though, in order to have a tournament, we need players.
Player Information:
Since we played 4 qualifiers, we have our 32 players for the main event. Here's the list in case you forgot: + Show Spoiler [Player List] +HoMM Trump Bash FlutterWaifu Maverick WhiteWing SamuraiApple Fencar RainbowFlash tredc ZealotKiller MyiPengWin Psamathos AAngelos Aliean Cyrus Kevin Rawr UnicornJedi reification Requiem Santashy Yip Diversee Snowflakes Rehio Soundwave StarDragon EvEShadowshy FlowerFairy SoulReaver
If your name is up here, and would still like to play in the tournament, please go ahead and Send me a PM through Team Liquid, with a subject of: BronyCraft Confirmation. As of yet, there is no confirmed date, simply because there are some minor things I would like to finish before hosting/casting it, but I promise to make every effort to have finished this tournament BY THE END OF OCTOBER. Phew, feels good to have a deadline to work towards =D
That all being said, I will assume that there will be a few dropouts/people we can't find for reasons/people who don't want to play. If you would like to sign up to be a replacement for BronyCraft 3: Mane Event, go ahead and shoot me a PM on Team Liquid with the subject BronyCraft Replacement. I will work in replacements, ranking them as follows:
1) People who have played in any BronyCraft 3 Qualifiers, and earned points (Higher points = better rank). 2) People who have played in any BronyCraft 3 Qualifiers, and didn't earn points. 3) People who haven't played in any BronyCraft 3 Qualifiers, but played in previous BronyCrafts (1 or 2) 4) People who are listed on the TL MLP Fan list. 5) Anyone else. 5 People who are qualified for the main event and are ranked already, will not recieve a lower rank than they currently have. They can only move up in rank, and any replacements will be ranked at the bottom. Here's the Liquipedia Article in case you need to look up your spot with regards to points: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/BronyCraft_3
Community Involvement: Once again, I beg from the community to help me out with this stuff =D Here are a few things that I would love to have, some more necessary than others, but would be nice.
Stats Pony: I would like, when we have a finalized player list, for someone to go through each BronyCraft and get some stats. Stuff like overall win % in BronyCrafts, vs Z %, Final placements, stuff like that. I'll be doing some of it myself, but more help couldn't hurt. This would be to make each cast more exciting and fun for the viewers.
Bracket Pony: Once again, I would like to have someone who wasn't playing in the tournament to help me out with the brackets. You can use whatever you like during the competitions (google docs, challonge, ect) but I would also need someone to update the Liquipedia page in case Zoda isn't around. (He's doing super secret stuffz for TL, because he's a busy aussie =D)
MapMaker Pony: Well, jig is up I suppose =P. I would like someone with some map making experience to make some custom maps for use in the tournament. Nothing too fancy, we aren't editing the map layout or anything, just adding a bit of pony flair to the maps to give it that extra pony touch. Let me know if you are interested.
Prizes: I kinda didn't want to put this one up here, but thought, what the hey. If you are feeling generous to donate something for the winners, (As if the honor of becoming Iron Pony wasn't enough) please pm me and let me know. You can stay anonymous if you wish, of course.
Finally, Hype Ponies: Spread the word! We need this posted everywhere! If a few of you guys could help round up players, then when the date gets announced, help me by spreading awareness of our awesome tournament! We had a peak concurrent of ~160 for BronyCraft 2, lets see if we can get over 200!
Final Thoughts: Thanks to everyone who has been so patient (and some a little less patient =D) with me through this. I'm sorry it took a bit longer than expected, but I hope to finish this tournament out with a bang! If you have any suggestions, thoughts, or angry pitchfork waving, please feel free to send me a PM. Lets get this thing started!

After a year of hard work, including four months of dealing with rejection and revising things for a fifth, sixth, and even seventh time, I've finally gotten my story up on EqD! It will appear within the next few days as of writing this.
