Does anyone know a good English CS community website?
gotfrag is dead (and was never good in the first place) hltv.org is absolutely, god-freaking AWFUL. It's good for the news, but the discussions are almost as bad as youtube comments.
Is there anywhere with a large gathering of 1.6 and source players who have proper discussions which don't turn into teenage-style pissing contests?

ESEA should suffice. And lets not get crazy now, GotFrag was amazing during its early years. Great content (Midway's Melee!) and the news (and drama) hub of the CS world. It was the premiere CS site circa 2002-2005ish.

I can tell you for sure that game isn't cs source , even though I had 3 years experience and semi pro experience in that game , I could not recognise any more the recoil , the feel is different , except the map layout is almost the same , Looking at m4a1 looks so badass, I can't wait to get my hands on this baby and relive my cs competitiveness again .
On another note I am an experience cs 1.6 and source players , have been following teams like team 3d and mostly Ksharp as my favourite counter strike hero , It's good to see that he is still playing . GO KSHARP FIGHTING !!!!!!!!!!

Instead of buying defuse kits, the CTs are randomly given 2 at the beginning of the round and you can drop it. Their solution was just to send one to each site and drop it in the middle of the site.
Makes sense and overcomes the "restriction" they put in, the problem is it's just too easy. Even though they used to be cheap, at least there was some tactical decision to be made, especially on pistol rounds. Now they're just going to be available, all the time.
Unless I'm missing some detail, it seems like a short sighted decision, to me.
I would actually love to see a system where the Kits rotate on the players and they are undroppable unless the player dies. If they standardized the "rotation" of players who got the kits, the luck factor would be minimized and teams could arrange ahead of time where in the rotation they are.
For example:
Round One: Player 1 and Player 2 get the kid.
Round Two: Player 2 and Player 3 get the kit. etc
And teams decide ahead of time which player number everybody is. This would encourage versatility in players for both weapons and positions on the map, a metagame of knowing who has the kit when and where the CT defense formation based on each member's strengths, etc.
If you combine this with a fixed terrorist Bomber that rotates per round, it could really introduce new gameplay strategies by providing more complex metagame opportunities for teams to work with and exploit.
And yeah, the purists might not like this idea, but introducing / experimenting with new ideas and concepts could be healthy for the game.

EDIT: I do understand how CPL fucked a lot of people over with paying out money, plus it was known that admins from cal often ruled in favor of people they knew and liked but still... Just saying haha.
Yeah, CPL fucked up in a lot of ways but there were still a ton of good memories from those days. I actually regret that CPL ignored broodwar for so long. I can imagine if they supported it more from the beginning, we might be even further along than we are. I remember what a headache it was back in the day trying to talk to CPL staff and Angel Munoz about how broodwar and RTS is just built to be a spectator sport and how they disagreed completely. It's a total 180 from Sundance's perspective. Sometimes I wonder what they are thinking when they see MLG/IPL's success with starcraft2 today.

whoa whoa whoa, hold on there chief before you starting knocking GotFrag. GotFrag was HUGE to the community from about 2001-2006 or so, and it spawned some of the most influential people in the community not just in CS but in Starcraft 2 to this very day.
Hltv was bad for news, but it was amazing for hltv ip's for anyone and everyone playing every day (especially for lower or less hyped events and leagues that gotfrag wasn't covering).
Respect mayne, it needs some.

Beta goes live today. If anybody happens to have a leftover key, I will gladly take it. Other than that, I would also love to watch some streams because the beta was delayed due to feedback from 1.6 pros and I want to see how the game plays right now. So, if you have a key, please stream and share the link ♥

I think ESEA requires you to be a premium member to even access their CS forum now. Don't think the community there was very good anyway.
