[ ! ] -- Usage of MOBA -- Multiplayer Online Battle Arena What competitive game isn't multiplayer, online, and takes on some sort of battle? The first three words apply to nearly every single online game that pits players against each other. The fourth word, arena, doesn't even describe the DotA genre. Using that word implies an all-hostile area that dismisses territorial control and lane-pushing in DotA. Even RTSRPG or ActionRTS would be better (yet still lacking) acronyms. If anything, use DotA as a genre of its own. Please help stop the widespread use of the vague and misleading term MOBA!

i am really looking forward to revisiting dota after two years of hon - when i left dota i was a total scrub with no game sense (at least from my current pov) and it was barely good enough to dominate bnet pubs and sigs - maybe i will write a miniblog about getting back into dota if i make some intresting observations while doing so. i dont plan on being any less able at dota 2 than i currently am at hon.
lanaya, morphling, jakiro - here i come <3 |

| I hope that TL develops a strong DotA community to help avoid all of the flaming and bashing that is typically attributed to DotA players. DotA has a ridiculously hard learning curve, and regardless of how good Valve's teaching system is, having players willing to help you will definitely make playing the game much easier for newcomers. |

I'm not sure why you'd ban HoN talk. 95% of the animosity in these threads is between LoL and Dota/Hon, because LoL is very different and successful - but HoN is just the bastard brother.
Sure ban talk in the sense of the HoN community and my latest game etc, but HoN is in many ways what Dota 2 will be, except sanctioned by Icefrog. Because of this a lot of discussion about how HoN worked will be relevant for Dota 2. Some examples would be how matchmaking/stats/elo works, and how networking/servers work. Also Dota 2 will make some big changes to the gameplay that HoN has already done because it is no longer limited by the wc3 engine, such as the way the shops and items function.

I agree, because it's a game of skill, but at the same time you're really dependent on your teammates to perform. Yes it does produce rage, but that's just part of being competitive, which is good if you look at it in a positive way. |

MM won't fix it. The community should step in and fix it though. |
