The eSports division of IGN Entertainment is excited to announce IGN Pro League 3: Origins, boasting the top players of the world competing for a USD $100,000 prize pool! This comes following the success of the first two IPL tournaments, which exemplified the quality of IPL players and demonstrated high production value.
The goal of the IGN eSports division is to provide a professional, polished viewing experience to fans of eSports, while supporting the development of eSports globally through a sustainable tournament system that rewards its players. IPL 3: Origins will be the first full-fledged live StarCraft II tournament for IGN Entertainment; the aim is to repeat success and grow out eSports at IGN and beyond.

FAQ / Q&A:
Q: Can I spectate the event if I’m younger than 21? A: Unfortunately, due to state law, if you’re under 21, you are not allowed in the venue. We hope to make this event a success and continue our relationship with them to bring it to other venues around the country and world, where they do allow under 21 year olds into their venue.
Q: Can I play in the event if I’m younger then 21? A: Yes! We have worked out a deal with Caesar’s and the New Jersey Gaming Commission to allow us to submit under 21 year old players to them for approval. You will need to be 18 years or older to compete, and will be allowed to spectate if eliminated.
Q: What other games will you have at the venue? A: To be revealed at a later date!
Q: What about the top 16 from IPL 2? A: The top 16 from IPL 2 are pre-qualified for our next online event, not IPL 3! We hope to have a good mixture of both online and offline events, but we do consider them to be separate types of events.
Q: Will there be Koreans? A: Yes
Q: What states are prohibited from entering the qualifiers? A: Vermont
Q: Will there be any betting on any matches in IPL 3? A: Nope!

Wait, invited players aren't going to be the top 8 from IPL 2? Lame. (edits follow) Koreans can come over by winning all the online qualifier spots.
Other than that, looks good.Last edit: 2011-08-17 07:13:29 |

Damn under 21 can't spectate, why do they have to make it in a Gaming place. Well from what I've seen in MLG, there wasn't much under 21 ppl anyway
Hope it were a 32 men tourneys rather than 16 only. |

Read the end of the writing and it explains why they won't be recieving those invites. In addition it is much more difficult for the koreans to get there than the other NA/EU players.
Oh and btw I am digging the Prize distribution. 30,000 is a nice sum of money but not too much to overpay the top performer / underpay the bottom half of successful players.Last edit: 2011-08-17 07:15:42 |

I'm a little confused about this part, I'd like to play in the open bracket, but I'm under 21. It says that people under 21 are allowed to play, but not allowed in the venue. Does that mean that I can only play in the online qualifiers? |

Four sets of casters. Does this mean 4 streams? Will streams be paid subscriptions?
1500 seats only at the venue from what the link shows. Should be interesting how that works out :D. |

It means we will need information from people who buy tickets who are under 21 to submit to the gaming commission so you can play! |

I think they are saying you can't spectate at the venue if you're under 21 (spectator pass), but they worked out a deal to let those that are actually playing in the tourney into the venue. Makes sense seeing as though there probably will be quite a few competitors that are under 21.

We will have more information on streams as the event approaches, but we will have more then 1 stream for sure.
Also we will have additional seating and space in our qualifiers area, the main stage is just the theater itself. |
