Well if you're new to dota and didnt play dota1 i think its maybe easier to have it off. I would think (i dont know since i played dota1) that its maybe i easier to lasthit when its off.

In cons you may get a attack less if u dont controll your hero and you run into an enemy and dont attack move all the time.

As far as I know you don't automatically attack people if you a-move onto highground/around trees without vision while having auto attack turned off, which is a pretty big reason to keep it turned on.

Are the servers down for everyone atm? Havent been able to play all day long...

edit: Disregard that, restarting steam seems to have fixed it. :S

I often get a strange error, "Searching for Dota2 server" or something to that affect. Usually I open/close steam, logout/login to steam, and try launching DOTA2 through the steam library rather than from a desktop icon. Dunno if this might help some others or someone knows what's causing the issue. It's very sporadic, however.

It's just valve servers being dum. Try another region or just wait a while. You'll get a server eventually but these issues mostly seemed to be confined to specific regions whenever they do occur.

Can someone list abilities where the effect is connected to a certain behavior or action from the target? I mean for example Axe's Battle Hunger or Bloodseeker's Rupture

What makes Rikimaru so much better in competitive games compared to HoN? I know HoN has a more tanky and different meta but even earlier on when the game and meta was a lot more similar to Dota, Nighthound (Riki) was never/rarely used competitively.

Riki is a rare pick in competive gaming. He was popular as a counter to AM, with slow and silence to destroy him before he can get big.

There might be a difference in the HoN riki though, since i don't know HoN

I'm pretty sure they're exactly the same from what I recall. I know Riki isn't a HUGELY popular pick in competitive Dota, but he definitely sees a lot more play than he does in HoN. I know Quantic (Its Gosu) liked picking him up quite a lot for awhile, and teams would ban him when playing against them quite a bit as well. The AM counter does make sense though.

Short lane and long lane. Which one is the safe and which one is the dangerous? I can never remember.

Shouldn't long lane be the dangerous lane because you are further away from your tower, and short lane be the safe lane because you are closer to your tower? But I could have sworn that I have seen different people call both the safe and the dangerous lane the short lane.

I wish people would just use safe lane and dangerous lane instead -__-

afaik, long = hard, short = safe. Hard and safe are so much better terms.

Short and long lane terms were mixed up a lot. I agree that "safe" and "hard" lane terms are easier. While you can always put a trilane on the "hard" lane for example to make it easy, people will know which lanes you're talking about.

writer22816 has the original definition of short and long lanes. Generally 'short' and 'long' in this sense mean the distance from where the creeps initially engage to your tier 1 tower.

So, for example at bot, the creeps engage a lot closer to Sentinel's tower, so it's the short lane for Sentinel and the long lane for Scourge.

It got mixed up because people took it as the length of the lane from your base to your tier 1 tower I think (at least I think that). So it looks as if Sentinel's bot lane territory (from base to tower) is longer than their territory at top and that makes the bot lane Sentinel's long lane.

Realised I just typed Sent/Scourge but cbf editing.
