| Why is it that a lot of times people would rather get a Helm of the Dominator rather than just sticking with the Morbid Mask? Why pay 950 more for no more lifesteal, which in the end is really the point of the item. For like, Drow ranger or sniper, why not just spend the 950 to get a faster manta or whatever next item. 950 for 20 damage is actually quite good. not a lot of items give you 20 damage for 950.
you also get +5 armor which is quite a bit.
You should also be using the dominate ability quite a bit. |

| 950 for 20 damage, a dominate ability to stack camps, and a 30% increase in EHP? It doesn't get more efficient than that. Plus progressing to Satanic is pretty nice later on as a luxury item. |

the question should be 'why low max hp dps heroes get lifesteal as the first core item?'.
Answer: 'noob is noob'.
on a serious note, late game lifesteal on dps heroes can be pretty insane and you can make satanic with the same slot. plus is nice that u can control some creep with helm.Last edit: 2011-12-05 12:06:27 |

helm of the dominator does have lifesteal. and 3hp regen is only worth maybe 400g.
20damage+ Dominate a creep (which could mean a variety of auras or spells). is insanely powerful, and a bargain at 1850g |

People who don't stack underestimate the extra creep so much. If all you do with it is just stack ancients every minute it pays for itself super fast, ofc you can get a purge/aoe stun/net etc. It's so good in the hands of someone who uses it correctly. |

Aren't most people getting "helm of iron will" first and the Mask later?
In the early game lifeleech is not really strong while +3 HP Regen and Armor is very decent?
But I don't play many Agi-Rangeds, so I could be off (and would probably not build HoD that early for them anyway).
As for HoD in general.. I doubt there is any other Item that is as easy to obtain and as powerful?

Getting Helm of Domi, and really almost every lifesteal as first item in generic is fail, unless the item is specifically needed for your hero like:
Vlads for pushing broodmother, lycan, and ofc. ursa for rosh
MoM for the likes of riki, sven
Dominator maybe for Mortred since it gives her decent survivability.
But there are better options than these. When I see a Trax, DK, sniper etc. get lifesteal first I facepalm. |

They do; but they don't rush the nerfs/fixes unless is really necesary (big glitch, gamebreaking issues).
When a hero is new; most of its "OverPower" may come from people not knowing yet what his skills are or how to counter the hero in general.
Also, take in mind that Dota is a Warcraft 3 map, and that you get kicked most of the time if trying to download it directly in-game; so rushing versions weekly is not really apreactiated (and I personaly hate that my LoL needs a freaking 100 MBs update everytime I feel like playing 2 matches).
I don't know about Phoenix or Rubick (since I stopped playing Dota many months ago); but usually they don't get in -CM until they had been out for "a while". Is not only about them being OP or not; but also because you can't allow heroes that may still have some exploitable bugs/glitches to get in the "real matches"; and sometimes there is really weird shit going on when they interact with some items, heroe abilities or other things.
(I personaly remember/loved Bat Rider's Sticky Naplam increasing Radiance damage)
Also... Sometimes is hard to tell when an hero is "OP". Most of the "NERF PLEASE IS TOO OP" petitions are for heroes that you never see in the competitive scene, because their only (or most) strong point is owning in the 1v1 situation seen so many times in pubs; but they apport nothing to a (Real, with coordination) team fight or are really easy to put down.

What about Troll Warlord for going to jungle with Wolf and/or Centaur aura? I used to do that; and Roshan is quite fast and easy with 1 of those auras :-P |

| It seems the game is registering a lot more games than i actually played. I think it's a bug or someone might've hacked my account? Which is highly unlikely seeing as it happens when i play. Also it has registered 2 abandoned games which i haven't abandoned either. Anyone know who i should go to with this? I can't find a mail or some sort of support forums. |

This is a heavily reported issue. Often after you are done playing a game, it will register the game multiple times. I've heard of someone getting 6 losses for a game they won. I'm sure it will be patched soon, but if you want to comment on it go to dev.dota2.com and find the post about it. |

I come from a high masters Starcraft 2 and League of Legends background.
I hear a lot about how LoL is a "joke" compared to DotA etc etc people just seem like assholes.
However I am sure it is not completed unfounded. What are the major differences between LoL and DotA? I have never played WC3 or DotA, I have played RTS since Brood War and League since September. I am interested in playing DotA2 when it comes out, I am just interested in the differences between the two games.
From what I can tell DotA 2 is more difficult mechanically, and has a...different visual feel. |
