How would I go about installing it over here? I looked at account creation on the CN Sc2 site and you need like ID numbers etc. Is there another way to go about this? |

have him set up the account for you and then you can just dl the game from the bnet account online.
But if you're getting the account thinking you're gonna be playing the best I would say its not the case. the CN server isnt the Korean server. A lot of the top players from CN who are like 120-5 on CN GM are just slightly above 50% on KR GM. I would say CN server is equal to NA probably as far as skill. but this rant only applies if you are trying to find the best ladder practice possible. |

I thought I'd put together a quick installation guide for CN client.
a few things to know ahead: 1) There is no CD key, the SC2 in China is much like WOW, you pay 20CNY (20 yuan ~ 3.5 USD) each month.
2) You need to register an account with B.Net China, http://www.battlenet.com.cn/sc2/zh/, would be easier you can read Chinese, otherwise I can help.
3) The China SSNO (identification number) is an 18 digit number, I randomly browse the web and found one, you need 1 for first time installation.
4) It would easier you have an 支付宝 (alipay) account, Alipay is like Paypal in China. Otherwise I can probably help. Think it as a pre-paid cell phone plan.
Installation 1) head over to http://www.battlenet.com.cn/sc2/zh/ (or cn.battle.net), click on 客户端下载, click on the downloader.exe, (7.87G)
2) run the installation, what I did is set up a 2nd Windows User account for the Chinese client, and just log off & on between accounts.
3) Installation point would be c:\Program Files\StarCraft IICN |

| Just FYI, the Taiwan version of SC2 is meant to cover Hong Kong, while the CN version isn't. So make sure that's indeed what you want before making your account. |

For server difficulty question, I would like clarify something:
KR/TW has the most skill players. (which covers HK, Machu)
CN server a separate server, it seems to be harder for me than US server. (again, only my personal opinion, I'm Gold on US, only Silver on CN.) I don't have any other server to play, so don't quote me on that.
The lag issue is another consideration, try ping cn.logon.battle.net see what u get.

last name : first name id #: (Chinese social security id) email: email again password: password security question: security question answer default telephone # (I think they want you to give a mobile #, maybe verification via sms or something.) confirm you accept terms/conditions.
then hit the left button on the bottom |

Thank you! Do you know if it's possible to use a passport number as a ID number?
Edit: It's not. I'm looking at my visa for a ID number but I'm not finding one. I think I'll try and get somebody here to just sign up for me. Last edit: 2012-09-04 12:07:46 |

It's the number on the personal identification card, I'm pretty sure every Chinese adult have one, they don't use driver license there for obvious reasons so that's what you use. I don't think you get one as you are not Chinese.
Try to fake it or get a Chinese friend to sign up for you. |
