I am currently in the process of turning my 10 keyless leopold with cherry browns into ergo clears I wasnt to happy with the browns I wanted just a little bit more tactility but without the extra clicky....
Basically ergo clears are just using the brown spring and a clear stem. I believe clears are 60gram springs and browns are 45-50.
So it will have the lightness of a brown, but the tactility of a clear. fuckin huge pain in the ass though i didnt expect it to be this much of a pain to do lol. But worth it, I have about 10 keys done so far lol.... Pretty noticeable difference and sound is a bit deeper. its the perfect switch, I wish more companies would start making clears.... I know Deck does, but those things are hidious. |

Only if you don't like your black switches. The SS board is pretty well built, so ur basically only making a key switch. |

| Is there any possibility to get a SteelSeries 6Gv2 in the official steelseries shop with german layout? I only see UK, US and scandinavian. Wanted to use the 30% off, but without a proper layout that would be kinda bad. Last edit: 2011-09-10 04:26:24 |

Personally I would go with browns over blacks. Browns are a much more middle of the road switch and I have not met a person that was upset with them. |

Just bought Razer Blackwidow this past week... Have been playing on it for a week now... Love it. Glad I didn't pay extra for the higher boards
I personally had never used a mechanical keyboard before and this one is just fine (great) for me switching from the cheap rubber membrane one. I find no issues playing SC2 on it... It is a lot of fun to type :D I say its like an orgasm for your fingers :D
If you have any questions about it, send me a PM and I will respond in a couple hours or so :D
So yeah, it has Blue switches and they are just fine for playing SC2 in my opinion, especially if you have never experienced the other switches. :DLast edit: 2011-09-10 11:40:13 |

Check this site out: http://tigerimports.net/
They have Ducky Mechanical Keyboards and for a good price!
I just got the exact keyboard I wanted for $80 Ducky DK1087 Mechanical Keyboard w/ Brown Cherry MX Switches (EN)
I could have sworn it said they had 5 or 6 in stock just yesterday, and already seem to be sold out of that model.
Anyways seems like a really good deal, and from what I understand ducky is on par with filco quality.Last edit: 2011-09-10 12:08:32 |

Noone actually specifies how much the discount is, I would email them + it does say to contact them for the student discount as well. |

maybe someone can help me, my original 1986 Model M has a couple of keys that no longer register all the time(the space bar,b,v,a) probably from the 10+ years scbw. it's the only keyboard i've ever liked, and the only one where i can accurately and confidently use 6,7,8,9,0 as hotkeys.
Its time i get a new keyboard, im told im a hipster nerd cuz i still rock my 25 years old keyboard. ive been a model M user for my whole life, and have a few questions
1.on the cherry blues, the key is registered not when the click is made but when the key bottoms out? if so whats the point of the click? would i find it to be a mind fuck?
2. cherry blacks, they are said to be the fastest and best for spamming the same key (1a4sd5sd11a etc macro) but from every video i see the lack of sound and tactile feedback might leave me feeling less confident on my keystrokes when im typing or macroing.
3. are topre keys worth the money?
and yes im aware that unicomp makes blucking spring keyboards but im really interested in a keyboard that will better suit my battlestation.

From Das Support: "We offer an educational discount of 20% and free ground shipping (exceptions apply for Alaska and Hawaii) on all current selling models. A 15% discount is available for refurbished keyboards (please keep in mind that our refurbished inventory fluctuates). Our standard warranty (http://www.daskeyboard.com/guarantee/ ) also applies to the refurbished keyboards. The discounts cannot be combined. The discount does not apply to accessories." |

This is false, i use the razer blackwidow and it registers instantly when you hear/feel the click. |

Nah bugger that, unless you need macros or backlight keys.
Get a leopold from PCCG
Same price, but you can choose any switch and don't have any of the quality issues of the BW.
I use blue switches for SC and typing, but if you cant have your keyboard making noise (alot of noise) then maybe brown? |

I have a keyboard with blue switches, and the "click" is the exact moment the key-press is registered. When I got the keyboard, I experimented a bit with different keys, and all seem to be working the same. No matter how slow and delicate you try to press down on a key, you cannot have it register without a "click", and you cannot have a "click" without the key being registered. Basically, the engineers that designed the switch did a perfect job, without using a buckling spring. |

if you liked your buckling springs then DEFINITELY go for blues or clears. blacks will feel boring and empty to youLast edit: 2011-09-11 04:07:33 |
