I believe the DK1008 is not tenkeyless but full. It's also one of the older models. |

I got the rosewill on newegg when it was 50$ off. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823201044
I got it for a friend as I already have a filco with browns. Both are awesome. The reds are far better then the black switches if you want linear switches. I have used every type now and I would say brown/red/blue are all great depending on if you want the click or not. The blacks I really didn't like. |

Well, with my wireless logitech keyboard on it's last legs, I'm looking to get a mechanical one as a replacement.
I as wondering if anyone could recommend any good red switch keyboards from personal experience, preferably in the $100 range? |

Ducky DK1008, Leopold FC500r, RK-9000re, all three are around $100, all three are fullsized, all three are great quality. Pick your poison. |

RK-9000 vs. Das Keyboard Professional
What should I buy? Is there any difference quality-wise? |

If you wanna pay an extra $40 for a keyboard then be my guess, last time I checked Filco > Das. I would go with the rk-9000 all the boards are solid. Plus you save $40 |

So I'm on the verge of ordering a q-pad MK-80 with MX Browns.
It has backlighting (absolute necessity), it doesn't seem to be too hugely wide, and Browns seem to be the best switch for varied purposes. In my case, I don't play SC2 on a particularly high level, and I write a lot, so yeah.
It's 140 euros though, so that's hard to stomach. But then, if it's good it should be worth it. Biggest worry is the clicky noises. |

That's what I read, yes. Friend's got blues I think - I always hear the clicks when we skype. Do not want. |

Well if sound is really an issue with you regarding keyboards, I suggest using Browns especially when you type lightly and you don't bottom out. :D
Actually I like having Blues or Blacks as well but I read that it has some issues with double tapping so I went with Browns which is a cross of both in a way. |

I'm so unsure about what switch type to pick. Well, i've narrowed it down to either Browns or Blacks but I can't really push myself into picking and ordering one or the other. I think whatever the switch, i'll buy a Filco. I haven't heard a negative thing about them and whilst they do look a bit bland in the style department, performance is more important to me.
From the diagrams on the QPad website, It seems to me that "MX Blacks" are basically a mechanical version of standard rubber-dome keys? i.e. There's no click/bump when the keys are de-pressed (pretty straight forward?). Then for the "MX Browns", there's a point as you press the key down where you feel a "bump" that does NOT make an audible clicking sound, just to tell you to remove your finger from the key as its been registered by the keyboard?
It's really pretty hard to pick between the two. On one hand, the MX Blacks sound great because I am so used to typing on my standard rubber-dome, so a mechanical version of that would probably be the logical step up? On the other hand, all I hear is that the MX Browns are the superior switch for gaming AND typing. Part of me thinks I should get that and adjust to it, as it'll be worth it for my typing in the long run?
Please TL, help me make the decision! Also I should probably note, even though I am a programmer/coder and I do type a hell of a lot, I don't really touch type professionally and only use 2 fingers on each hand. Does the MX Brown switch benefit someone who is a natural 80wpm touch typist? Something to consider I guess. Thanks! |
