Just got my Noppoo Choc Pro w/ red switches...

WOW this thing is amazing. First time ever using it after years and years of just typing on my laptop's keyboard. Typing feels so much more enjoyable now (and louder, haha) and it definitely feels much faster even if it really isn't.

Can't wait to test this out in-game.

That depends on the razer blackwidow, i am not aware of Euro Prices, but as there have been concerns raised about the build quality of the Blackwidow range, provided the LED backlighting is not a large concern, i would go for the 6gv2 for the lower probability of bad build quality.

EDIT: Fixing mistype for 6gv2

Depends on switches actually, personally I'd increase the budget a bit and go for K60 or QPAD MK-50

Whilst I'm at it, does anyone have any recommendations for a comprehensive listing of prices within Australia?

At the moment most retailers i can find only carry the Blackwidow and Steelseries 6gv2 that i can immediately identify as the labelling on most sites is pitiful when it comes to distinction between mechanical and rubber, and I'm after a site which will allow me to easily compare a range of Mechanical keyboards at australian prices (Ordering overseas seems exorbitantly expensive due to the additional weight of most mechanical keyboards).

Thanks in advance.

Totally fine with my Blackwidow (normal edition) here. Never had any problems.

imo don't get the BW or 6gv2, there are better boards for cheaper in Aus.
There are 3 online stores I know of

PCCG
Biggest range, has the Leopolds/CM storm which are probably the best buy around atm (great quality and cheap)
edit: just noticed new leopolds are coming, with PBT caps!!

Auspcmarket
Has Filcos, Das and a few more. Bit more expensive but remember that shipping costs are included in the price.

MechKeyboards
This site has suffered from PCCG and Auspc getting into the mech board market. But if you want a quality backlit (Ducky shine) or a compact keyboard (KBC poker) this is the place.

Auspc and PCCG I can personally vouch for, both have great service and I've never heard anything bad about mechkeyboards.com
If you have any more questions throw them up here or pm me.

Just got my Leopold(cherry black) in today. Love this keyboard, by far the best I have ever owned. I will be writing a review in a week or two and posting it here on TL.

its probably made in Taiwan in the same factory filcos are made. USB to PS/2 Gives NKRO, There are good reviews on the board. It also comes in reds, but you have to order those from Taiwan.

It's made by the same OEM as Filco, Costar. It's a great product, I do prefer the rubber feet on the Filco though. My QuickFire Rapid slides a little bit on my glass table (what can you expect). If I didn't use the keyboard stands I wouldn't have any issues since the keyboard has a rubber coating on it.

Yes you need the usb -> ps/2 adapter for NKRO.

It's a soild keyboard, if you don't mind the logos everywhere and the crazy font on the keycaps I would say go for it, it's very close to a Filco in quality.

Or, you can get a Noppoo keyboard and get NKRO over USB :D

Even though I really don't find NKRO necessary.

So, is it normal for me to be always bottoming out my keys? Or will I eventually just adapt to the lighter required force?

yes, unless your a touch typer your probably going to bottom out for as long as you have the keyboard. I only bottom out on my leopold when Im playing sc2, when im just typing stuff i don't bottom out. Touch typing ftw!

For people who bought a brand new CM Storm QuickFire Rapid keyboard:

If you are experiencing squeaky sounds on "larger keys" (backspace, spacebar, enter key, shift keys), DO NOT use oil or any or any of the sort to fix the problem. I don't know how the warranty works for some of you, but as far as I know, any damage from liquids on the keyboard WILL NOT be covered by the warranty.

The squeaky sond on the larger keys is due to the design of the keys. Since they are larger, the Cherry MX switches cannot balance the large keycaps on their own, so there are balancing ledges beneath the sides of the larger keys. The thing is CM Storm made the balancing ledges a bit too tight, the keycaps will rub against the ledges, hence the squeaky sound.

There are 2 safe solutions that I know of without voiding your warranty:

1. Don't do anything and Keep using the keyboard - the longer you use the keyboard, the balancing ledges will eventually become more loose. I don't know how long this will take, but if you don't mind the squeaks as much and have patience, just wait and the squeaks will disappear eventually.

2. Remove keycaps and balancing ledges and make the ledges loose - this is the method I used, and to be honest this is quite dangerous if you don't know what to do since you might break the balancing ledges. What I did was I removed the ledges and I stretched them out a bit to become loose. When I put everything back together again the squeaks disappeared.

If you want to use this method let me know and I can do my best to explain how to remove the keycaps and balancing ledges to fix the squeaks.

Anyone have any experience with this keyboard? TG3 Electronics BL82
http://www.globaltekoutlet.com/TG3-Electronics-BL82-Series-Backlit-Keyboard-p/bl82.htm

I'm trying to decide between that keyboard and the CM Storm Quickfire. Mainly because they're both mechanical and I'm a sucker for backlit led keyboards.

Btw what type of Cherry MX does this CM Storm use?
