Depending where it is there are ways you can tape it up and make it useable for lifting. That and lots of chalk

lol, I'm dumb for forgetting about taping considering I'm a former gymnast. Chalk is always good though yeah but it doesn't really take away much of the pain.

Soy in general is considered bad right? If I could be provided with some quality links to explain it, that would be nice. I don't know how to explain this to my friends.

http://www.skrewtips.com/2008/02/08/oh-soy-bad-how-we-are-mislead-about-the-benefits-of-soy/

^^ sums up most of the arguments. If you want to fish around in pubmed for studies supporting or not supporting soy be my guest.

Generally speaking. most soy products are heavily processed and plant protein is questionable health benefit wise (especially when you consider that gluten and other grain proteins from plants are considered "protein" that is benefit).

Ummm, yeah. I know that a random link like that isn't going to help all that much with friends, but I haven't been able to find a link to the studies that I used to have atm. :\

Summary: I"m sucking at upping calorie intake. I need to just go to the store, get food, and cook for myself. Because the weight loss oriented family does not understand Just small pasta dishes for dinner like every day...

I don't really want to spend too awful much. What are other reasonably cheap to buy/easy to prepare foods. I'll go out and buy/cook them. I have the time / energy to.

Oats used to be a common recommendation when bulking up, and they're fairly calorie dense which is what you are looking for. You're mum seems to buy into a lot of the health food propaganda so this might be worth a try, as oats are often marketed as "healthy". As far as grains go my understanding is that oats aren't as bad as some of the others such as wheat/flour.

Cheese, nuts, higher healthy fat foods I'd say. Snack on good stuff from the fridge.

I would need to see a vid of technique, and are your knees collapsing in?

Can't get any vid right now but could see if i could aquire some camera some how sometime soon idk =p But yes, my knees collasping in is exactly what is wrong\how I feel weakish. Even just while standing still and not doing anything, if i like let my legs "rest" they will just imediattly collapse inwards and feel a lot weaker than they have used to.

Edit: and i'd just like to mention that I am not and have not been feeling any pain whatsoever. (apart from DOMS I guess, but thats not really pain.) The knees just feel weak and unstable when bent sort of and collapse if i let them. :v Knee collapse sounds so dramatic though which it really is not.

Can anybody help me with the power clean? The only problem I have is on the clean grip(?). This is the reason why I can't do front squats as it is painful on my shoulders, and I can't begin to imagine catching the barbell on my shoulders during a power clean.

HOPEFULLY, I'm doing it all wrong

What movements hurt? Is it sore on the muscles, or the bone or what?

It may be a good idea to do some mobility work such as cat-camels or bird-dogs (you can youtube these) to see if that helps get rid of the soreness/aching.

I'm guessing it's the muscle since it hurts when I use it in some way, and it hurts more after exercise and less after rest. I have been making sure to stretch it daily and I'll add cat-camels and bird-dogs to my stretches. Other than that, should I rest until it's better, exercise but leave out exercises that tax the back, or just keep working out like usual?

Hey man. Check this out: http://www.mobilitywod.com/2010/11/episode-99365-solving-front-rack.html
Also if you just do a search on that site for front rack there's several pages which should help you. Good luck.

I am on a whole plant foods based diet. Pretty much Tofu and Tempeh are pretty great, and I get lots of my protein from these sources, I use both in tons of recipes, like tonight I made Meatloaf using Tempeh, with some steamed veggies as a side, was great.

The heavily processed soys are really not great for you at all and that's where most of the bad press about soy comes from, things like "fake meats" that you microwave, veggie burgers you get out and about, etc.. Just avoid them, especially since Tofu is extremely easy to cook, it's like a blank piece of paper, if you don't like what comes out with your recipe, try again.

I make my own Almond Milk, extremely easy, but Soy Milk is like.. a moderate to not ok option, I wouldn't touch actual dairy with a 500 foot pole.

Posting a vid would help immensely in evaluating your form.

If it is grass fed: HELL YEAH! (as in really good)

If you decide to cut it off, do it after cooking the meat since it adds so much flavor.

What is the best weekly routine I can do with dumbells that will burn fat? I'm not looking to focus on any area in particular just general calorie burning so I can get rid of my gut.

See the general nutrition thread.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=261918

Weight loss is about 80-85% diet.

Also, barbells would be preferable to have exercise that would stimulate muscle mass if you can access to them. What DB weights do you have?

Not sure about mustard bran in terms of health, but the rest are fine.

What is going to be in your homemade mayo?

I hurt my back doing squats the other day (arched my back when it should have stayed straight). What's the best way to recover? Should I still be exercising? If not, how long will it take before it's better?

My back isn't that sore, more just annoying. It aches a bit right after exercise, and if I don't exercise it only hurts when I use it. That said, I don't think I could do anything close to my max with my back like it is.

Unless it was a front squat, I've always thought that you were supposed to keep your back arched during squats.

Arched as in extension, or arched as in bent? Bent is a big no-no!

You are supposed to keep your back arched during all squats (slightly that is...)

Some people have natural hyperextension which is too much though and you can get injured the other way
