What could some substance possibly do to make a 30 minute walk more effective?
Isn't that kind of like saying "What could steroids possibly do to make a 30 minute workout more effective?" The difference may be small but over time those small things will add up. "A little bit of cardio" is not really strictly defined either so it could be everything from 3hrs of HIIT to walking 5 minutes for all we know .
Steroids help you recover faster. If you're worried about recovering from a 30 minute walk before hit the pavement again, you should not be on steroids.
And yeah, bcaa is just protein shit i think is recommended for people on lean gains, jack3d is a pre workout with some stimulants to get you amped up a bit. |

Of course you shouldn't take steroids for a walk, that's why I wrote workout instead, but the principle is the same, just less extreme . Some people care about the small differences, some people don't, not much else to say about it.
I know jack shit about jack3d, but BCAA is mainly used to maintain muscle mass while on a calorie-deficit. If you eat plenty of calories there isn't really any need for BCAA because there is enough in regular foods. Only difference is the BCAA in foods is peptide bound and thus has to be digested before it can be absorbed into the body, while the stuff you buy is in free form. |

So I'm having a lot of trouble eating 200g of protein per day. I'm stuffing myself with salmon/chicken/steak and drinking a gallon of milk a day but my food doesn't seem to be able to get me there. What do I do? T_T
Edit: You know that moment when you hit post as your brain screams "OMG DON'T DO IT YOU'RE AN IDIOT!!!"? That was me... turns out the 144g of protein from a gallon of milk daily is a significant factor. I feel so stupid.........Last edit: 2012-03-29 10:08:47 |

Haha If you're getting a gallon of milk a day you can eat normal meals and usually be fine. If you have trouble, don't always get a gallon in (I don't) I use a protein powder and mix it with the milk. |

Any recommendations? I haven't ever used protein powders. I'm pretty sure a google search of best protein powder will bombard me with a shit ton of ad websites >.<
Edit: Just got some random whey protein powder from wally world. Anywho, how detrimental is it for me to be working out every night? I'm only squatting three times a week and I try to make sure I'm not targeting the same muscles with my workouts, but I'm so damn bored I just end up going to the gym and working out. Do I need to stop this?Last edit: 2012-03-29 14:05:44 |

I use optimum nutrition whey/casein protein and its pretty awesome as for working out every day: you can do that, in fact many professional weightlifters even work out twice a day (just ask dimsum!), but just remember this: you dont get stronger by lifting weights. you get stronger by RECOVERING from lifting weights. |

There are probably some that are better than others, but if you're referring to the Body Fortress stuff at walmart, that's what I use mainly because its convenient and cheap. |

If you play at a high level you could ask your coach, he will know whats best for sure.
I have no idea what level of fitness is required at table tennis, but HIIT pretty much improves everyones athletic level. |

oh cool, I play table tennis as well pretty sure explosive movements like power cleans are worthwhile. HIIT as well for that extra speed! |

| Yeah I was going to suggest clean & jerk and snatches for explosiveness. |

Speaking of table tennis, the World Team Championships are on everyday until Sunday this week. Today is Ro16, tomorrow is Ro8:

Hi chaps,
So my question: I am fairly fit but still have some residual body fat. Namely love handles boobs and tummy. Im 13.5st and about 5ft 11inc.
I would like to put on some muscle mass and loose the residual fat. I understand that lifting weights and doing high intensity interval training is probably the best way to go about this but my main issue is nutrition.
Do eat to put weight on at the risk of not loosing much fat? Or do I eat to loose weight (calorie deficit) at the risk of not putting on any muscle and not having the energy to complete my workouts with sufficient intensity?
Or the third option. Do I go all out to put on muscle mass then loose the fat after?
Thanks for any help in advance. |

Hi podzz,
I think there is still a lot of information for you to gather in the TLHF OP. Whether you want to lose weight or gain weight can pretty much only be answered by yourself. How do you want to look for summer? Slim? Then losing weight might be a good idea.Last edit: 2012-03-30 00:31:29 |

| @Podzz: If you plan on taking your shirt off during summer, I would suggest you eat to lose weight and train to reflect that goal (i.e. low volume, high intensity). |
