'I can do better'
Q. First of all, how do you feel after securing the Championship?
A. Since this was my first final in 4 seasons, I was very tense from the get-go. I'm ecstatic to have won because there was also a great deal of pressure on me. I think it'll spur me on to do better in the next season.
Q. You're the first Terran in the GSL to win 3 Championships.
A. I think the most significant part about final was just that. When I saw NesTea be the first Zerg to do so last season, I thought to myself that I could be the first Terran to achieve the same thing. I'm very happy that Terran is keeping up with Zerg.
Q. When did you start to feel that you had the final in the bag? And what was the critical moment for you?
A. When I held off TOP's aggression in game 3, I knew I had a good chance to win the whole thing. As for the critical moment, it was my decision to use bio in game 5. When I use mech, I have a very good winning percentage against bio users. I was concerned that bio was weaker than mech.
Q. Were there any particular reasons for choosing bio in game 5?
A. There was a psychological element to my choice. During the previous game, I got the feeling that he prepared some custom builds against my mech play. I thought he would use another one of those, so I decided to go bio.
Q. How do you rate TOP's performance today?
A. I got the feeling that he was quite tense, and didn't really get to show his full range of skills. I think his play was quite withdrawn because it was his first time in the final. If he reaches this stage again, I think he'll perform much better.
Q. If you had to pick your toughest opponent in this season, who would it be?
A. I was very pressed for time when preparing for the final. Due to the shortage of practice, I was very anxious. My toughest opponent was NesTea. There was a lot of pressure on me to do well, and every time I play against him, I feel burdened.
Q. How do you think the final would've turned out, if you had been up against Polt?
A. Since their styles are very different, it would be rash of me to say anything with certainty. However, I do think that I would've fared better against Polt's style of play. Even though I can't predict what the score would've been, I'm fairly confident that I would've won because of my defensive style.
Q. Who you do think will be your biggest competitor in the next seaon?
A. I would say NesTea is most likely going to be my rival.
Q. Who do you plan to pick during the group selection?
A. I haven't seen the full player-list yet, so I'm not sure. I want to pick players that I will produce entertaining games with, and of course have a good chance to beat.
Q. There are 20 Terrans in Code S. What do you think about that?
A. Frankly, there are too many Terrans, so I have a mind to pick them. There are 20 of them next season, so it would be fine if many didn't make it past the Ro32.
Q. How are your wrists? Does it affect your game at all?
A. They hurt quite a bit during the first game, so it was hard to get set up properly. Before, they only hurt during practice, but going all the way through the tournament meant I was feeling it even more. However, because the first game was a prolonged macro game, the sense came back to me. I do think that my wrist pains are quite serious, but because they hurt all the time, I've gotten used to it and I don't worry about it too much.
Q. Do you feel sad about not being able to participate in the All-Star matches?
A. It looked like a ton of fun, so I'm quite sad that I wasn't able to play in it. However, since I was in the Code S final, I put it behind me and concentrated on my preparations.
Finally, is there anything you would like to say?
A. I want to thank my teammates Happy, dreamertt, Yoda, and Fenix, who recently joined our team, for helping me practice. I also want to thank TSL.Clide, TSL.aLive, and SlayerS.Ryung. I want to thank our sponsors CoCa-Cola and Googims, and my manager Kang Dong Hoon for always working hard for the players. It would be nice if we could bring in similar results in the future.
Finally, it would be great if this win could secure a main sponsor for our team, since we are currently without one. If you want to support us, please feel free to contact us.
