| You don't spend any points on skills. You automatically unlock certain skills at certain levels. The same applies to different runes. |

Yes. The pools for the items and skills will be pretty huge though, so there will be depth.

Plus Gems, but I guess you could kind of group that with items since you socket the gems into items for bonus stats. There are items that give you skill point(s) to a specific skill. Honestly I dislike the new approach towards runes. They used to give huge bonuses but now they are up to 10x less prominent in some cases. This greatly decreases customization regarding runes from what they used to be. A small bonus will barely make a splash in the pool of customization. A few years back Blizzard used to tout saying how your choices on this stuff would greatly increase customization because the numbers where so big, but now there are some bonuses on runes that give a mere 1% bonus. Not only this but most of the early runes are weaker compared to the ones that you unlock later which certainly does not encourage customization. If Blizzard wants to encourage customization there needs to be choice on which rune you unlock and when, and the choices all need to be balanced. The first time I heard about the runes with the skills, I thought, "Awesome, that's where the character customization was going to take place." Then I come here and see that you just get all of them by level 60 and can pick between them just on a cooldown as your penalty for switching. Am I understanding this correctly? |

Yes it's a mere 5 second cooldown. Essentially, they want you to experiment with all the skill and rune combinations by level 60 because thats when Nephalem Valor comes in. If you don't know what that is, here's a quote from Blizzard.
"Rare and Champion packs already have great loot on them. By killing a Rare or Champion pack, not only do you get their loot, but you’ll also receive a buff granting you increased magic find and gold find. However, if you change a skill, skill rune, passive, or leave the game, the buff disappears. As an extra reward, if you kill a boss while this buff is active, you’ll receive extra loot drops from that boss.
The exact amount of magic find and gold find provided by the buff is still being reviewed, as is the amount of extra loot you get from a boss while the buff is active. We’re also playing around with whether or not the buff stacks, what the duration should be, and whether or not it should persist through death. We want to make sure the buff is strong enough to make staying in your current game more rewarding than creating a new game. At the same time, if the buff is too strong, it risks making shorter play sessions feel not worthwhile." |

Hard to say right now. In the beta I feel it's about the same with range requiring a bit more kiting than melee...
In the future I have no idea, they look more or less the same. Maybe DH will have to require the most, the DH has a glass canon feel to it so my guess is careful movements and good use of control abilities might be required the most. The DH looks more about avoiding damage whereas Monk, Barb and Wiz have more abilities to sustain damage or stun/freeze/knock back monsters. WD has his pets and fear.
But really hard to say, I could end up being completly wrong.

Hi guys, awsome thread. has answered so many questions but there is one i havnt seen yet.
Ive just bought the digital pre-order and downloaded the game client. I can now start the install Setup. but when i click on Install it gives me a little window that says "fire blablabla, Diablo 3 has not yet been released" and an OK button.
considering the fact that diablo 3 really has not been released i think this is how it is supposed to be right? On May 15th i will be able to install the game?
