I've installed the windows 8 Dev beta, and I've installed SC2 on it. Unfortunately, due to the way that windows 8 handles multitasking between metro apps (dragging other running "apps" in from the left), I can't seem to scroll left while playing a game. I've done alot of googling, and it seems that other games don't seem to have this problem, and that people have been successfully running SC without this problem, so I'm trying to identify the source. This happens in fullscreen and fullscreen (windowed) mode, because the mouse has to go all the way to the left in order to start the scrolling, and these are the only ways I like to play. Thanks for any and all help! |

| Well its a beta, best thing to do is to let microsoft know so it gets fixed... |
| | I play Protoss, because lets face it, who doesn't love hyper-advanced Egyptian ninja-aliens that kill people with lightsabres attached to both arms? |

| I would, but it seems to be isolated to me from what I can tell from other sites... |

| Isn't there an option in SC2 somewhere that lets you tell it to forcefully lock the cursor in the window? |

| I don't know if I got you right, but maybe running if you are running in windowed (fullscreen) that might be the cause of it. Last edit: 2011-09-16 09:06:49 |

| No, I've tried fullscreen as well, and that doesnt work. Bobbias, I've tried that option, and it doesn't make any difference, as soon as I get to the side of the screen, it turns back into a normal windows cursor (because the desktop is actually in a way considered an "app" that can be switched with others) and if i cllick and drag it switches me to another app, and I can't scroll... |

| Ra(y... Hmm Thanks for the advice... Though I really don't love it, cus I like playing full res, it does work, so thanks! This does work. If anyone can ever find a solution that doesn't require a res change, please PM me! |

| Ok! I have found a (somewhat annoying) but working solution. download MetroController, the app located http://winaero.com/e107_files/downloads/MetroController.zip here. Run then click "disable all new features". This takes you into pretty much a carbon copy of windows 7, even without explorer ribbon-bar and advanced task manager as such after you do a logout and log back (which, luckily, is quite fast in Windows 8 Dev), and fixes this problem. Thanks for the patience guy! Enjoy your windows 8 and I hope this helps someone! |

It's not a beta - it's a developer preview. It's alpha quality at best, this exists solely so developers can build and test their applications on it. It's not recommended for consumers at all. |

Well of course! I'm just trying it out to sorta get a feel for what Windows is gonna look like in the future. I'm not using it as my primary OS, but it is nice to not have to reboot everytime I play SC, especially because performance is better here than in 7 for me cus of no background programs.
Oh! And HAIL R1CH! I feel so honored to have you in one of my threads XD. Thanks for all the awesome work you do for the community!Last edit: 2011-09-16 10:23:54 |

| I actually got it and tried to play starcraft2 on windows 8 yesterday, ran into the same problem! I started googling stuff for hours and could not find anything on this "problem", didn't know if I should make a thread here because I felt like the problem was isolated to just me. Glad to know I'm not alone! |

Sorry I can't help out on the problem, but I really recommend running Win8 in a virtual machine like ie. VirtualBox. That way you don't have to reboot when done testing and playing around . |

I am playing starcraft II in windows 8 without any problems AT ALL!
Not playing on a virtual box and also playing in Fullscreen.
Not sure if that helps anyone but just letting you know that it does work. |
