Stop being jerks to each other please. Stop talking about seperate TL sites, BW vs SC2, or which fan base is retarded/ignorant/elitist/old/constipated.

Don't post in the thread unless you take the time to read the situation.

Don't post in the thread to let others know that they should have been banned longer.

Don't post in the thread to claim that kespa is the evil empire based on you reading the translated musing of a random Chinese blogger.

Honestly people, this is common sense. I hate the fact that I have to moderate to the lowest common denominator. Make my job easier please.

Really love the news - I rarely post, but I was so scared SC was gonna die in Korea. It's been with me since the beginning of High School, and just starting college, I feel SC is one of my remaining connections to my childhood. Really happy that SC is still going :DD

"players will be destributed evenly" Does this mean teams won't pay for the players they'll get?

I'm optimistic. The whole KeSpa management thing will be cleared up eventually. I doubt it means they take on anything more than a greater administrative role.

everything sounds good except the kespa is gonna manage thing... I guess they mean the business side or something? don't see why they would replace the real managers who make the lineup decisions, could create some type of moral hazard would it not?

It's actually quite exciting to wait to see what new team formations we'll see. Sea and Jaedong in the same team would be awesome. They both have this aura of diligence and modesty around them that I have grown to respect. Throw in Killer and some up and coming rookies from disbanded teams and I have something to truly cheer for.

So the players' association also manages the players? That's strange to say the least.

I could actually see that developing into a situation where there's a conflict of interest on the part of the association...but let's see what happens.

They won't decide team linups for sure. New responsibilities for Kespa will be things like accommodation, PR and such...

If it is true the main goal will be probably to stop the same thing happening again with a load of gamers left possibly screwed when a sponsor pulls out. They are not going to effect any day to day running of the team, why would they.

I don't see how this could be bad news for anyone, unless one of the newly created teams turns out to be really terrible or something.

Even though I'm not much of a Brood War follower, this is good news!

This whole Kespa organization sounds mighty suspect. I don't understand how they have gotten so much power, but it doesn't seem like it could be good for esports in the long run.

I do not like the idea of KESPA having even more control than it already does.

I guess it technically could be considered a conflict of interest, but the idea of player's association managing the.... players..... is more non-sense than anything else.

While I came in only with the SC2 scene, I think I've got the idea of what KeSPA is up to.

For an American audience, they seem to be headed into a MLS-like system. In that system, KeSPA would actually "own" the teams. The teams wouldn't be run by KeSPA though. They'd have a team principal that makes those choices. They'd be doing this mostly so the title sponsors don't have to foot all of the bill for the costs. This also allows them to bring in more sponsors at a lower cost.

The general idea is, just throwing out hypothetical numbers, that a team costs say 3 million USD a year. But the companies don't feel like they get that return anymore on that much money. But they might feel they'd be fine at 1.5 million USD per year. There is a problem, however, as team sponsorship is an "either/or" decision. With KeSPA actually owning the teams, they sponsors can buy in, for possibly multiple teams, at a lower cost. Say Korean Air wants to sponsor 4 teams @ 500 thousand USD a year? Now they could, and they'd have their logos show up in roughly 50% of all matches.

That would make a lot of sense, but we're working with a double translated speculation. So, take it as that until we have more information.

That is what I kind of thought, them consolidating and sort of selling BW as a package deal, to deal with any poor ROI's from less popular or successful teams. I am curious though now as to also what happens to like KT. If they are pooling finances, can they still justify paying someone like Flash his salary or will they have to sort of budget it out in such a way as to not take money away from less successful teams.

A lot of unanswered questions....
