Game 1 : Kingdom(p) vs GoRush(z) on Requiem
I would never bet on a protoss vs a zerg on requiem. The map has proved again and again it sucks to high heavens PvZ. And Kingdom beating Gorush nowadays? Ah. comon.
Things might be shaping up for the devil toss(@12). Goes back to his roots with a no-bullshit 2 gate zealot build and contains GoRush(@9) from the start. GoRush, who opened 9 pool, is unable to do anything. Looks utterly lost and after losing tons of time not doing anything he finally goes lair. Kingdom sits back and build up more and more zealots while holding all of GoRush' breakout attempts.
When the zealot numbers reaches critical mass Kingdom moves in. GoRush, who has just finished his lair, defends with all his lings, drones and a lone sunken. He holds the attack with many losses, but Kingdom never lets up from here and GoRush soon find himself unable to defend. Kingdom also has a corsair out and after trying to do something usefull GoRush types out.
Kingdom 1-0 GoRush
Game 2 : Kingdom(p) vs GoRush(z) on Raid Assault 2
Master zerg GoRush found himself down 0-1 after game 1, and was eager to get back in the series. Kingdom needs only this win to advance in the loser's bracket, and wants it.
Kingdom(@6) started the harass by pyloning the zerg gas natural, limiting GoRush(@12) to mineral only untill lings could be produced. Rushed with zealots from a single gateway and once again threw GoRush off his game plan. Had a corsair in the skies while GoRush was still struggling to get his bases going.
Kingdom was clearly going for reaver tech, and took advantage of his early shuttle by lifting 5 zealots and a goon into the undefended zerg main, following with a reaver. GoRush could only watch as his ground troops and building was decimated by the reaver and zealots from Kingdom, while overlords were hunted down by the corsairs constantly patrolling above the zerg creep. GoRush stayed till the bitter end, but could not fight the devil any more.
Kingdom 2-0 GoRush
Game 3 : ForU(p) vs JulyZerg(z) on Luna "The Final"
Even the most die-hard ForU fan would agree with me that his PvZ game is far from the scaryness that is his PvT or even PvP. Nobody would give him much chance versus the strongest zerg player in the world; July.
The game has ForU(@5) opening a classic 2 gate zealot build. Questionable move on this map, imho. July is more used to the recent tech openings and gambles a hatch@expand before pool. Gets punished by a hard zealot rush from the protoss pro, and a heated micro battle takes place with July manouvering his lings and desperately morphing sunkens.
July manages to throw ForU out of his natural, but is left with only 7 drones and is forced to spend money on lings and more sunkens, while ForU safely takes his gas and continues on the zealot path while teching with a core and a forge. ForU switches into 3 gate range goon while July is teching with a lair and hiding lings for a sneak attack.
As soon as ForU moves out with his sizeable goon/zealot army July makes his move, but ForU spots it and defends with probes, goons and cannons while taking down July's 5 sunkens and eventually his main base. July goes down like a newbie and ForU is up 1-0.
ForU 1-0 Julyzerg
Game 4 : ForU(p) vs JulyZerg(z) on Requiem
ForU(@3) again opens 2 gate, but with a fast gas twist. A bit risky, and leaves his entrance open with only a lone zealot to defend vs July's 9 pool build. The speedlings goes into the protoss main, but are unable to kill any probes because ForU's zealot control is just that good today. Think I saw ssonjang hiding a tear in the crowd. ForU sets up defense with photos cannons and goes offensive with a large number of zealots.
Some time goes by with both running their basic units around, and eventually ForU gets tired and forces his zealot group thru the zerg choke. Despite heavy losses he is able to harass the zerg main and pick up drone kills. Tries to fortify his expansion but is halted by July's lings. ForU strikes back with a small group of speedlots and manages to take down the zerg spire and several drones. Has meanwhile been building up his corsair count and is also making a new nexus at his natural. Runs more speedlot into the zerg main and spots the new hydra den.
July is busy keeping his overlords alive for the punishing corsair group from ForU, and is unable to see the two dark templars entering his main. July's main drone line is wiped out, and the dark templars gets to work on the structures. July's last attack ends in dead lurkers and nothing accomplished. The zerg king types out.
ForU 2-0 July
The two protoss players had obviously done their homework, taking down the two best zergs in the world in style. Kingdom showed his old magic and once again makes top players feel like battle.net newbies, while ForU finally makes his claim as a great PvZ player.
