The Flyers have signed Shea Webber to a 14 year contracts estimated to be well north of $100 million in value. Nashville has 7 days to match but I cannt see them doing it.
Kevin Bieksa@kbieksa3
#Weber #offersheet @Ryan_Kesler Now that's an offer sheet Kes! Makes yours look like 2 three year olds bartering for the red lego...

So what I get from that is: 1) Pronger is done in hockey 2) Holmgren continues his wild changes in terms of team building and I kind of dig that kind of level of pro-activity 3) It will be harder for the owners to try to stiff the players with this and the sutter/parise contracts, if I were the NHLPA Id show this contract down their faces in the negotiations 4) If I was a Devils fans I'd be even madder, considering the price they paid for Kovy and the kind of bullshit first Minny and now the Flyers might get away with

| If you were in the Preds shoes, what would you do? two 1st pick (is that correct?) may be tempting (even if the Flyers end with high picks). Its possible Weber doesn't want ot stay, in which case this may be the best they can get in return |

| Just saw Weber might be going to Philly. Would fit him great, being a dirty player and all. Last edit: 2012-07-20 04:06:02 |

The compinsation for a $7,835,220 or higher anual salary is 4 1st round picks. I'm pretty sure Webber is making more then 7,835,220 per year with this new contract. If hes not then its 2 first rounders, a second rounder and a third rounder. |

Burke won't sign players to offer sheets because he says its "dirty thing to do to other teams". Burke won't sign players to contracts longer than 5 years because it circumvents the salary cap rules of the NHL and is "unethical".
This Flyers deal breaks both of Burke's holy rules of free agent signing.
Burke is going to "ethical" his way right out of a job.

| Its gonna be a very intresting next 5 days. Theirs alot of things that can happen. Technically Nashville can sign Webber to a different contract and auto void the offer sheet. If they walked into his agents office and said we are prepared to match the offer sheet that may scare the webber camp into signing a much shorter contract with the Preds(shorter, not cheaper, cheaper wont fly) |

| Super interesting. I think the league might step in and kibosh this 14 year front loaded contract. I wonder what happens to Webber's rights in such a situation. |

I don't see any reason they would. It's total legal. Butt fucking a cash strapped team isn't against the rules. It adheres to everything in the cba now

Kovalchuk contract rejected by NHL |

| QuanticHawk United States. July 21 2012 02:58. Posts 21282 | Profile Blog # |
That was rejected because he'd be 43 or 44 when it ended, and because he would have been paid $7m over the last seven seasons.
That original Kovy deal also brought this rule change:
1. While players and clubs can continue to negotiate long-term contracts (five years or longer) that include contract years in a player's 40s, for purposes of salary-cap calculation the contract will effectively be cut off in the year of the contract in which the player turns 41.
Homer structured the deal to get in just under the Kovy Rule. It also tapers off no more than any of the other 10 year+ contracts
also relevent news: the nba is expected to ok ads on jerseys for next season. Hopefully this dumb shit doesnt bleed over to other sportsLast edit: 2012-07-21 03:03:44 |

Gagner avoid arbitration today with a $3.4 for one year. Pretty solid. I think he can be a very good 2C.

Where is Shane Doan going?
http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/18510/morning-links-doan-hossa-and-more
There is really no need to travel to all of these cities. This "dog and pony show" is intended to send a clear signal to Greg Jamison that he needs to come up with the cash. Otherwise, he should do the right thing and admit he does not have the resources to buy and run the team.
Peladeau, an M&A vulture, must be really low balling Bettman. lolLast edit: 2012-07-24 02:42:27 |

I don't know man, it fits right into everything else he's ever done.

On practice jerseys I'm okay with it. The Maple Leafs did it for a few seasons, but on the actual jersey? FUCK NO.Last edit: 2012-07-24 02:48:42 |

You're exactly right. He's just killing time to see if the Coyotes can come up with the cash. I don't believe that he really wants to go elsewhere unless he absolutely has to. Otherwise, I can see him going to a contender for cheap. The Rangers could use him, for sure. |
