I missed the game due to watching broodwar but Schneider with a 2nd shutout in a row wow, if Luongo chokes in San Jose tomorrow night he's gonna get destroyed by the fans.

Islanders played harder in the last 30 seconds of the game to stop him from getting it than they did the other 59:30. It was pathetic.
Pretty sure Pitt was waiting for this game. NYI is not the most physical team in the NHL (only Edmonton plays softer IMO) so its a good game to get Crosburger back in
Tell that to Nashville...
Or Brendan Morrow, RNH's hit on him has him out with an upper body injury.
^_^
According to NHL.com Edmonton Oilers have delivered 385 hits(24th) NYI has 383(25th). Thats acctually alot more then I expected (Dallas is by far the most physical team with 630 hits, 90 more then 2nd place Columbus. Last is SJ with 322).
Dallas doesn't actually have 630... they have rather liberal arena stat-guys. I am willing to bet 200 of them are shenanigans.
Lets put it this way: 2011/12 430 home hits, 242 away hits (188 more at home having only played 2 more games at home) 2010/11 1614 home hits, 898 away hits (716 more at home than on the road 41 games each) 2009/10 1416 home hits, 922 away hits (494 more at home) 2008/09 1464 home hits, 812 away hits (612 more at home)
You honestly telling me Dallas nearly doubles their hits at home compared to on the road? The hit stats in the NHL are a gong show. Some teams only count huge leveling runs, other teams *cough*dallas*cough* count every small little love tap twice. Hell, the Oilers were credited with 37 hits during the game against Dallas, the stars with 69! The stars maybe reached 30, and the Oilers MAYBE hit 20.
As far as I am concerned Boston is 1st, with LA, Anaheim, and Calgary not too far behind.
hmm...point taken. Oh well. If inflating the hit counter can help sell tickets then I guess its a whatever. Cannt think of any other reason why they'd wanna inflate it.
17 striaght losses in Minny is the end of the line for the Oilers. 5-2 on the backs of Hall/Eberle/RNH(3g/3a combined)

I love hockey and all its fans. Check this out. Patrick Eaves just took a one-timer that went a bit high in the side of the head and was out cold for a few moments. After coming too, and getting help onto the strecher, the detriot crowd was chanting his name.
The greatest game on earth indeed!

I sort of saw it coming when the players weren't responding. -_-
Bruce is a great couch and I admire the fact he was willing to bench his best players if they weren't going to play under his system.
With that said, it looks like the Leafs have replaced Washington's up-tempo style. Definitely one of the most interesting teams to watch right now.

I hope we can finally beat Boston this time around instead of getting owned
Bruins started their run with that blow out. Just have to wait and see considering they're playing them back-to-back.

Luongo gets sat on the bench for yet another game but being a good sport about it wow. Maybe this will get him going mentally when he finally gets on the ice again.

I hope Dale Hunter lets Washington get back to that all out attack style that Boudreau tried to kill. Offencivly gifted and minded teams generally suck at playing defence.

I hope the Oilers rebound from their last 80 minutes of less than mediocre hockey... they've been fatigued at best, flat out asleep at worst...
I just want to see some more good efforts with more than 20 shots on net. Oh well, we've had a fairly tough schedule. We've played in Colorado twice both times being the third game in four nights and second of back-to-back games... I'd like a talk with the guys who made the schedule to say the least.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake
Edmonton and Shoulder injuries....WTH! Seriously is every good player we get onna get a bad shoulder injury? I hope Taylor Hall had better doctors then Hemsky got.

How is bruce a great coach?? Whatever gameplan the team came in with in the first period was what they ended with, no matter what they faced or how they played. Both he and the players individually (specifically ovechkin) plodded right ahead doing the same thing no matter what.

As for Washington. It will be interesting to see how their all-stars will play with a new coach because I can't believe that their struggles this season have been solely due to Boudreau.

And those same teams generally falter when it comes to the postseason. Boudreau had a primadonna group of players who failed to buy in because they were used to the old way, even though it got them nowhere in the playoffs. The ultra-talented Penguins won a Cup when their primary pressure system was a passive 1-2-2; only when they were behind or had a lot of momentum did that Cup winning team really up the forecheck. Detroit has a lot of offensive talent but those players have bought in over the years and understand that it's better to play a tough system than to score lots of goals and give up lots of chances. A culture change was necessary for that organization.
edit: And now Boudreau has a job. Randy Carlyle has been fired by the Ducks (7-13-4, tied for last in league w/ Islanders) and Boudreau gets the job. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Bobby Ryan because there have been heavy rumors this week that he was getting shopped around for a potential trade.

As a Washingtonian I firmly believe that the current players we have are just too spoiled and soft. Nothing to do with Bruce. And he "couldn't" do much about it because when he started benching the spoiled guys he got fired. Go figure.
Good luck to him at his new gig, he's a good coach for sure.
