Avery said on some tv show he retired and threw his skates in the Hudson, but then he didn't
the NHL gms are not likely to approve the red line... but have found something even dumber in the ringette line, which will be on top of the faceoff circles below the bluelines. If a skater makes a two line pass behind it, the play is dead. The AHL will test this next season.
The league is fucking retarded and is apparently really desperate to bring back the things that most promoted the dreaded TRAP

Great. a Shittier redline. Why just make it a rule that if you cant carry the puck from your end of the ice to the other end of the ice the play is dead. I mean I know I watch hockey for its sedative abilities, not for the rushes that are just too exciting and fast for me to enjoy.
NHL rules currently allow players to chase the puck to the end boards, which can create full-speed races in an effort to get to the puck first. Under hybrid icing, the race for the puck would end at the faceoff dots, allowing players to battle for possession more safely at 30 feet away from the boards instead of 3 feet away.
Y'know sometimes people ask me y'know like "What's your religion and stuff?" And I'm like "y' know it's like RTS." Uh, and they're like, "What's that?" And I'm like, "Y'know it's kinda like, kinda like Buddism."
Ya thats not bad. But I also have no problem with no touch icings. Ya I get it that its cool when you beat an icing and have a puck down behind the other teams net and all but its not really worth it imo compared to how dangerous that position is.

Love hybrid icing, hate the red line and ringette line. Things that limit the decisions players can make just means defensive systems are more powerful, because there are less options to deal with.
There was also an article linked from puck daddy headlines that suggested sid only come back for power plays. I love that idea (altough extreme) because they arent bringing him into the top two lines anyway. Ease him in... Dont go to 20 min a game right away.

Yeah supposedly he is doing 3rd line and PP on Thurs.
That team is scary right now. Byslma is smart in not breaking up Malkin. Hopefully Hank gets better by then so we can see a duel of the two leading Hart candidates. I think if Hank keeps it below 1.90 and floats beter than 935/10so, he can definitely snag it. It's not as if Malkin is miles above anyone else. Stamkos is killing it again, already hit 50 goals with 40 (!) at even strength.

I hope so but, how many players have successfully comeback from such a serious concussion? I can only thing of Krecji of the top of my head.
Crosby has been suffering from "concussion-like symptoms," but was only recently diagnosed with a soft-tissue injury in his neck. I haven't been following the story too closely in the press, but the legend here in Pittsburgh is that his good friend Tom Brady suggested that he see a neck specialist. The neck diagnosis came after his first comeback attempt , so hopefully the real problem has been identified and rectified. IIRC he had like 6 points in 4 games after 12 months of inactivity, or something like that, back in December (maybe November?), so the man can clearly still play the game.
Anyways, it will be exciting to have him back. Malkin stays on the top line, and the second line will remain intact for now as well. Also, I just read that Crosby will moved to the point on powerplays, which is very interesting. He's a motherfucking half-wall dominator; nobody can take the puck off his stick and nobody can predict where its going because he has such a complete skillset (tape-to-tape backhanded crossrink saucer pass? no problem!)
Its gonna be interesting going down the stretch. Can Malkin remain the league leading scorer with Crosby's line taking up icetime? Can the Penguins get their 10th straight win on Thursday night at the Garden? Can the Rangers hold on to that number 1 playoff spot? Its going to be very interesting...
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

Hybrid icing should have been in the game ten years ago, as far ads I am concerned.
The current NHL system is only current in the NHL... every other league in the world switched from it because it is just flat out dangerous. Yes lets have two guys skate as fast as they can toward a wall! That should be safe...
Sure, touch icing is exciting and adds depth to the game, but the 0.2% chance that the forward gets to the puck ahead of the defenceman is not worth the 0.02% chance some kids career and life are ruined for no reason.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake

But there are times where the offense can use a cross-ice dump from behind the red line, seems to happen once or twice a game for aggressive forechecking teams.

Oh noes, you need to take two more steps before you can execute the same play? Terrible.

Hybrid icing makes sence. Tyler Fedun can tell you why.
The other two ideas seem stupid but the NHL is at least talking. I'll give the NHL the benifit of the doubt here because all of the rules they have altered have resulted in an improved game. Im sure they have had some other dumb ideas that didn't get implemented.
Also, when are they gonna use that wire mesh on the top of the nets to aid with video review?

Ya I mean, I read that neck thing too. And if that is what it is, thats kind of good knew I guess but if it isnt, if it is a brain issue then who knows.
Either way, it will be interesting to see how the big boys treat him in the corners. After all, its not like that original hit that semi-crippled him was some sort of vicious 100 mph check.
Anyway, my fantasy team's playoff hopes are quickly fading because of Roberto Luongo. I dont even have the energy to write up an angry post, I just dont understand how the Canucks play like total crap in front of him but for Scneider they actually put in effort. I guess the 5 years of never ending tears following yet another disappointing playoff exist finally wore everyone down and now they just dont care.
