| So I popped in the cd, changed my BIOS to boot to disc and began installing, only to have it freeze in the "Expanding Windows Files" section. I've tried over and over and it simply freezes anywhere from 0 to 90 percent. Any advise? |

| How sure are you that it is freezing? I think when installing it sticks at a certain percentage for like 5 to 10 minutes. |

if you're burning an ISO to DVD, then I'd suggest reburning at the slowest write speed
if the DVD has been bought or packaged with a computer, my only suggestion is return it for a replacement or find out if MS or the computer manufacturer can provide a replacement
could try also try installing with a different DVD drive |

| youre disconnecting all the USB devices during installation right? sometimes that, or pieces of hardware in general can freeze the installation. |

| On my phone right now. I disconnected all usb ports and its slowly loading again with no hangups at 12%. Hopefully this works. |

| You should probably just download an 'illegit' version and try it. You can then use your official product/CD key at the prompt to register Windows. As far as I know, I don't even think that's actually against the TOU/EULA since you're using official product key and aren't bypassing anything (assuming you download the right version) Last edit: 2011-10-17 11:17:52 |

I had the same problem (hanging at installation during "finishing windows installation") and solution (unplugging all usb ports) when i f'ed up my hard drive.
