This topic is just for a little bit of fun. Several people have noticed in the past than nobody won more than 3 starleagues (for the same starleague). I remember a poll wondering who would be the first to win 4 MSL (well now that is going to be hard :-(). Here is my take on this subject!
Once upon a time, there was a man called  NaDa. He was the greatest player in the world. He was so great that he won 3 MSL and 3 OSL. Then he said: "No one shall be better than me because I am The Greatest Player Of All Time. To ensure than no one will surpass me I will curse the starleagues: if any player win 3 gold in a starleague, he will never win again, and his loses will come from his greatest strength."
Let's look at the curse in action:
- the next player to win 3 starleagues was Oov (3 MSL). His strength was macro, and his TvZ was imbalanced, goind a stagering 27-0 once against Zerg. What happens?  IPXZerg (sAviOr) appears and show how to beat terrans at their own macro games. To be extra sure, the curse makes him fall in the shower to hurt his wrist a few years after:

- the downfall of Oov, Savior goes then to win 3 MSL. He has excellent ZvT, even against horrible maps. But his true and tried strenght lies in his ZvP, he was holding the ELO record by a huge margin at that time if I remember correctly. In his fifth MSL final, he is poised to win his fourth title as he is against a relatively new protoss... Well you know what happened, this protoss was  Bisu and went to 3-0 with the bisu's build. A few years later, the curse striked again to ensure that Savior is banned from competitive play.
- Bisu also went on to win 3 MSL. After his win against Savior, he won again against Stork 3-2 (with the infamous forgotten goon range in the final game). He made it again to the final the next MSL, to play against a relatively new (and young!) Terran named Mind. Everybody was expecting to win but alas Mind prevailed 3-1 (and got the record of the youngest person to win a starleague before Flash took it from him). Bisu finally got his third MSL trophy against JangBi. Well surely the next MSL will be his fourth right? To be sure to at least get out of the group plays, he made a group of himself and 3 zergs. PvZ being his best matchup, he would surely go 2-0 and ... oh wait he got eliminated. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=86100
- Before's Bisu third MSL starleague win, JulyZerg went on to win the golden mouse (3 OSL) a few months before. He just kinda disappeared afterwards, so I can't find the curse in action here. That maybe the case because JulyZerg only can win a starleague on July, so he has a curse of his own...
- Next 3 starleague player (for the same starleague) is Jaedong! In a kinda Zerg heavy field, his 80%+ ZvZ matchup does wonder (his other matchups are not too shabby either) and he gets the golden mouse! Well the curse strike: from now on he (mostly) gets eliminated from the OSL by Zergs... and Flash!
- Flash is the last player to win 3 starleagues, he even matches Nada's record of 3 OSL and 3 MSL gold. His strong point is... everything. Well no problem, after the golden mouse, the curse will give him a wrist injury so strong it goes up to the shoulder:http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/addtopic.php?type=6 Wait he manage to win his third MSL? Quick, we have to send him away (surgery!)
I wonder what will happen to Flash now that he has reached the theorical limit of starleague golds. Can he transcend the curse? Or will Kespa force everyone to move to Sc2 before that?

| Well it's a shame no one will ever win a 4th MSL, but either Flash or Jaedong will win a 4th OSL eventually. MVP will win a 4th GSL easily. I mean it's a monthly tournament for crying out loud. Would not be surprised if he had a dozen of them by the time his career is over. |

Yeah if OSL was a monthly tournament Flash and Jaedong would probably have about 50 between them. |

Interesting...I hadn't actually noticed how many people had won 3 starleages (I guess having more than one a year sort of messes up my intuition for how many could have done it). I guess its a good thing the golden mouse doesn't require 4 wins.  |

I too believed in the curse when JangBi beat Flash. But who can stop flash in a BoX? Fantasy, Sea, Light, Stork, Bisu, JangBi, Jaedong, ZerO, Effort, Hydra, Neo.g_Soulkey?
No - not forever. Be prepared to be shocked...
Flash is younger than all of them! And he has 6 titles!
The only notable players younger than Flash (imho) are Snow and Bogus.
If there continues to be 2-3 OSL's per year for the next few years, Flash will get several more. Unless his wrist re-aggravates very badly. |
