I often trek into NYC for events and meetups but I'm really located on Long Island. I know there are at least a few others on TL who live on Long Island. Maybe we could try to get some stuff going in Western Suffolk or Eastern Nassau County.
For those of you who aren't from Long Island, it's located directly East of (and adjacent to) New York City, as seen here:
It's the largest island in the continental USA I believe.
Anyway, who is located on Long Island? Which part? Who might be interested in meetups for watching events, lans, etc? Suggested spots to do it?

Doesn't the Lirr cover like all of long island? I would like lans and events in brooklyn but I don't cry about taking 2 hour trains to queens...
maybe you'll find a few people but I don't imagine you have enough for lans and real meetups other than nerd basement parties perhaps |

The point of this thread is to determine whether or not there is sufficient interest/people. I don't see crying.
Why spend >20 dollars and multiple hours on transportation if you don't need to? |

also, im relatively eastern on long island, and it would take me like 30 minutes by train to get to queens.

| I put a list of people into the OP. If anything I put is an incorrect assumption please let me know and I'll fix it. Once we've given people a bit more time to see the thread and reply I'll make a map which shows the distribution of people, or something like that. In the meantime if anyone has any suggestions for places that would be good for LANs, Barcraft, or any other meetup let us know. In general we should be aiming for Eastern Nassau or Western Suffolk if we want it to be centrally located. |
