I'm so mad at you >_<

So after having a fabulous draft history of Corey Brewer, Chris Richard, Kevin Love, Nikola Pekovic, Ricky Rubio, Jonny Flynn, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, Wesley Johnson and Derrick Williams the Timberwolves are....................one game over .500.

Is a team built around Ricky Rubio, Kevin Love, Nikola Pekovic and one of Beasley/Williams really going to compete for a championship? Or even a Western Conference Finals? To be clear, I'm not deriding the Timberwolves success, they have been a revelation and incredibly fun to watch. But they're like 1 game up on Portland and 2 games down from Houston.

A franchise can get to 500 without tanking.

A bunch of overrated players... I think the results were expected

While watching the Warriors/Wizards highlights all I could think was:

1.) John Wall is stuck in purgatory
2.) The Wizards have no PnR defense
3.) The Wizards don't have any defense aside from Wall and McGhee (oh those blocks)
4a) McGhee would love to play with the Dubs, he could smoke all the good kali weed he wants
4b) I don't want the Dubs to trade for him... can get him in the offseason... still don't really want him either way... he's too stupid.

edit: oh yeah

Yeah but then you end up being Philly or Indiana. You can't take that step towards contention without a superstar.

The Wolves are in a pretty solid spot from years of tanking. They have the core in Love and Rubio and now they need one more solid piece to be a top team in the West. Most importantly, they have young, upside trade assets to get that player. Any package of Pekovic, Williams, Webster, Barea, Milicic, Randolph, Beasley and picks can get a decent return. If Boston are serious about blowing up their team, targeting guys like Allen and Pierce would be a savvy move for the Wolves. Milwaukee is currently imploding... I'd be looking to flip a package of young guys and Darko for my man Bogut.

Point is, the Wolves are in a good spot after years of tanking. Don't forget they finished last year with the worst record in the NBA and now they're already close to a Playoff team (if not already one). They only had 17 wins last year, which they have surpassed in just 39 games this year. A couple of savvy buys with the solid assets they have at their disposal could easily make them one of the West's top teams.

Only problem is Kahn is in charge.

You realize the Thunder, the model franchise for drafting, had some horrible early years with Durant and Westbrook. I heard Westbrook led the league in turnovers his rookie year.

Westbrook's still contending for the top TO spot, he does have some stiff competition from Durant & Lin though..

Hell. Lakers fans have been saying that since we met them in the playoffs in 09.

The breaking of John Wall is the most depressing thing in the NBA. Even watching the Pistons/Pacers brawl is less depressing than watching an absurdly gifted young man lose his passion every night. He's definitely regressed since last year.

He made the exact same comment around this time last year, about how his teammates weren't interested in the game. These wake up calls don't work.

McGee doesn't play good Defense. He just blocks shots. There is a difference.

If you've seen that ridiculous goaltending a few days ago you know what i mean. He could have easily help defended that straight up. Instead he dropped off the penetration so he can swat the ball like a retard.

It is funny... but it is also one of the low points in NBA history which is what Jibba refers to.

I feel for Wall as well, specially bc you know he is one of those guys who isn't going to get traded and is stuck there until they replace/trade/mature those idiots on the team or he gets close to FA. He has even put up better numbers as of late, which is impressive with those guys lol.
At exactly what point do you start to realize that life without knowledge is death in disguise.

Wow, Miami is shooting 70% versus the Nets, I think that's the closest to non-existent defense I've seen all year (and yes, I've watched the Wizards play)

.. and speaking of bad defense, the Bobcats on a 20-0 run versus the Magic :D

Edit: If Bismack Biyombo develops some offense, he'll be one of the best centers in the league in a couple of years, the guy is only 19 years old!

The growing sentiment in the DC area is that Ernie Grunfield needs to go NOW. After Grunfield is gone they are hoping for quick exits from Blatche, Nick Young, and McGee. The crowds haven't completely turned on McGee yet but its heading downhill pretty quick right now. Even casual fans seem to recognize that Wall can take only so much.

Can't see it happening. He could be a Ben Wallace type player for a team though.

McGee is just.. not very bright. I think if he was brought into an organisation with some old heads and a strong coach he could be morphed into a solid centre.

Unfortunately though he's one of those guys coasting through the NBA on his athletic talents alone and doesn't pay much attention the the cerebral side of the game. He clearly lacks a lot of discipline. I wouldn't call him a lost cause yet--guys like Z Bo show you can mature and become a strong contributor to a team. McGee has a long way to go though.
