Hey guys,
Right now, when people want to find barcrafts, they have to go through TeamLiquid, Reddit, maybe facebook... Same for people trying to organize barcrafts, they have to create a facebook page to get an estimate of the number of people interested... (hard to do in a forum).
My point is, there is room for improvement
So I thought I would create a website to list them all. It would make it easy for people to search by location, date etc... It would also make the life of the organizers easier: nice form to create their barcrafts, people could rsvp, comment, upload pictures etc.
Here is my first try! http://ibarcraft.com
IT'S IN BETA! (maybe even alpla ) The reason why I post it here so early is that I need feedback from you guys. It's really hard to get things exactly right the first time, especially when you're working alone. So I need your help. It's not been tested in IE (argh), and right now, with just a few users, the performances are good, but I'll have to optimize it if enough people are interested.
Don't hesitate to talk about anything you don't like or just share ideas. You can create fake barcrafts to see if the experience for organizers is good.
Thanks!
ps: I just used random data found on reddit or TL to add some barcrafts, so that the site is not empty, don't pay too much attention

Awesome! Definitely tweeting this!
Haha nice Maybe I'm just overreacting, but don't promote it too much for now, my current hosting platform can't handle much traffic I think ^^.
Someone finally had the balls to make an official website.
Not bad.
Nice work man, I'll probably use this site next time we're planing for barcraft.
Thanks!
Awesome Btw, I'm not sure I've been clear: you can test stuff out, create fake barcrafts etc so that I can improve the experience based on your feedback.
very very good! Nice resource, of course the key to successful functionality is getting everyone on board.
Next step is to try to get some people to back you. Blizzard itself was interested in barcraft, as are mlg and others. Get your name associated with them.
Or better facebook integration/facebook app. idk, just throwing out some ideas.
Yes! I will begin to promote the site and contact influential people as soon as I feel like it is good enough. There still some work to be done before that
I dont think I want to turn it into a facebook app, but a better integration with facebook would be a good idea indeed.

Nothing for Vegas.

So create one
we so need to do a barcraft in New Zealand...
Wow really well done! I'll play with it a bit more later
Fantastic idea!! keep up the good work!
It's cool to see that you all like the idea!
(good night)
Great idea!
Excellent idea! In the last few months the Barcraft events really skyrocketed (at least that's how I feel) and really hard to keep track of all of them and see if there is actually one near you. If people use your site to announce and organize their events I can see that you did there something really good for the community
Thanks Yeah, I hope it will be useful to the community! You mentioned that it's hard to keep track of all of them. I was thinking about allowing you to create groups. I would be great for people organizing several barcrafts, and users could "follow" the group and be notified of the next barcrafts automatically.
How do you think I should handle events? Should I maintain a list of the main events myself?
Should I allow users to create their own? In this case, I'd have to be careful about duplicates...
What do you think?
