If I'm going to do a ~130 km bike ride on Saturday/Sunday, should I still do my SS on Friday? Or should I get an extra day of rest.
edit: to elaborate a bit, it will be my first longer bike ride. Currently I do ~50 km over 3-4 hours or so (with breaks) on the weekends occasionally and feel fine that evening/the next day etc., but I expect this ride will take a lot more out of me. Hmmm... Last edit: 2012-05-02 12:31:08 |

I am back! been 6 months! Finally got some decent internet here at my base. All my goals have changed. My current goals: 100+ sit/push up in 2 minutes- Need to keep them this high for Navy PRT Sub 8:00 11/2 mile- At about 8:25ish right now 500 yard swim sub 9:30- Don't know where I am because no pool on my base is open yet. Combat side stroke only 25 pull ups- I can hit about 18-20 right now. Terrible galley food mixed with 1500-0030 shifts make my sleep and nutrition hard to optimize.
eshlow, I bought your book the other night because I believe doing bodyweight exercises will help me achieve my goals faster, it arrived here today. I tried some of the holds and can do most for about 2-3 seconds except the L sit. I may just be super inflexible, or my arms are just ridiculously short, so I can't put my palms flat on the floor while just sitting on my butt. How would I go about getting to actually do the exercise? |

| What holds can you do for 2-3seconds? Because the L-sit isn't really a true beginner hold, I wouldn't expect anyone without bodyweight training to be able to do it. For progressions you can do it with your legs tucked up to your chest (andwork your way to straightening them), or do it on paralets/dip station or something where your legs can go below horizontal (and work your way closer to horizontal). |

| Handstands, frog stand, and SA frog stand.(buddy in bootcamp taught me these because he could break dance) Pretty much most of the stuff that does not require rings. I can really feel how weak my shoulders are though. Also my roommates are sleeping so I am trying to do things quietly ha, so some things that I don't want to do right now that make noise. |

Just to give you an idea - I can do a handstand for 1 min and a frogstand for 30 seconds but I can't even get into a proper L-sit position let alone hold it for a second. I can however get into a legs below horizontal L-sit on parallets so I'm slowly getting there. It's quite an advanced move. Also I have piss weak abs so that doesn't help.

You crazy. Calves so sore from trail running Sunday and this morning. Need to get my "barefoot" running up to speed.
I remember when I used to do a lot of running I thought my calves were pretty well trained. Ran ~50km per week. Did 25mins barefoot HIIT.. Could not walk properly for days. also, stupid would be a more accurate description of me, did pull a PR tho
Ha, so jealous. Pulled 315x3 on Friday and I couldn't even do it once today My hips are still kinda bothering me but still I didn't expect to go backwards.
I did breakthrough on OHP again after deloading and I did a 1xBW squat widowmaker so not a complete failure today Bummed I hit a wall in DL though. |

| I've been stuck on 80 in bench myself for a while. Some days I manage 6 or 7 reps, some days I only manage 3. Guess it's because I'm on a cut. |

| Was going to do a deload week but deadlift warm up felt good so pulled 5x180kg, nice to know I haven't lost any strength despite no deadlifts for about a month. Also been getting a ton of "So you work out?" comments lately, fuckyeah.jpg. |

| So what do you guys work on when you can't break the weight off the floor for deadlift? I thought I remember seeing somethign about being on a slightly elevated platform from the weight? |

nice sneaky! I pulled 185x5 today.. feelsgoodman.jpg
@mordek: actually the opposite helps with the pull from the floor: deadlifts from a deficit. stand on a small platform and pull from thereLast edit: 2012-05-03 02:35:36 |

nice man, have you kept doing deadlifts every week since CP? I got really tired of them so I needed some time off to remotivate^^. |

I haven't really lost much fat since the Progress thread, although I've gained quite a bit of muscle. I gave up cutting when I hurt my shoulder and started Coan/phillipi so gimme a year and I'll post a new pic when I'm properly cut . |
