Awesome, well done. My girlfriend spent at least four months doing assisted pull ups before she finally did her first unassisted chin-up the two weeks back. Now she's trying to get her second set to five reps. Chin-ups take really long to improve, but it's definitely one of the most rewarding exercises. |

Agreed. At first I could do maybe 5 at most, with kip, and at the end I was breathing really hard. But the feeling when you're suddenly able to do slow, controlled chins and you know that when you're at the bottom it wont be difficult to get to the top, it's great. |

Awesome job. My first Dip and my first chin-up felt amazing too, keep at it, these really are some of the most rewarding exercises out there.
On the same token, I did my first Pull-Up yesterday, and it also felt awesome. Actually I nearly managed a second one. Didn't train specifically for them, just improving at chin ups and neutral grip chins did the trick (and losing weight of course). |

There is an olympic weightlifting club 4km from my home, and I just found that out when I am probably going to be moving away from here very soon. And I even knew of its existence, but I had it in my head that it was actually much farther away.

@Logros: Ah, okay Isee what you mean now. Although madcows/5x5 would had me going up 10 lbs a week, so 40 lbs a month right? I'll be adding in the BBB and working up. I plan on going from 3 to 5x10 in the next three weeks, then going up from 50 to 60 to 70%. Somebody posted an article about a bit ago about it from wendler. |

I think I look so much better and it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be at all (lifting is difficult to a degree don't get me wrong, but when you're just starting like I did results aren't hard to get, it's just a time investment. It isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be)

Just picked up 260 lbs for $130 bucks. Picking up another 160 for about 60 or 70 tomorrow.
And have spent the past three hours searching for racks. Good lord, not a second wasted.

Edit: Looks like I'll be going rogue for the remainder. Their weight plates are outrageous, but everything else is pretty damn fairly priced.Last edit: 2012-05-12 09:24:07 |
