I can deal with pages of Balance QQ. Pretty standard at TL.
But people blatently insulting the organizer/caster/thread owner of this tournament is fucking terrible class. These people shouldn't get warnings. They should get insta perma-bans. |

So what you're saying is that Protoss players aren't playing against their opponent in PvZ, but are in fact playing against an imaginary clock that means they lose once time runs out? That's not how a game should be balanced.
Bear in mind that there are a number of situations in which the only way to win is to just go kill your opponent in a certain time window. For an extreme example, imagine that I as Protoss make 3 expansions before my first Stalker. If you can kill me in that timing window, you should, and that's fine from a game design point of view.
See my edit, I agree that Grubby could've done more in the mid-game and that's why he lost.
Still, once it gets to the late-game and both players have the economy to build whatever they want, there shouldn't be "unbeatable" compositions. It's not good balance. I would say Steph's strongest MU is ZvP, I don't think I've seen him lose a ZvP series while he has laddered.
I remember Stephano got stomped by Squirtle repeteadly. It was weird because even his fanclub was saying how well Squirtle played. EDIT: Also, one thing I want to note is that he repeatedly stomp Sage at first, but... it almost looked like Sage was getting better due to their games against each other and towards the end, they were pretty even in matches if you exclude the time before the Blizzard Cup. I've been watching the replays of those games to see what I can figure out sometimes; it feels weird watching them because Squirtled played WAY better than he normally does in the GSL...

Well... at the beginning, Stephano made Sage look so terrible that it was getting sad. But after the Blizzard Cup, Sage was slowly stepping up his game to the point where it looked like they were going even TOWARDS THE END because yea Stephano stomped him hard at first....
I couldn't help but feel that it was like watching teammates play against each other though... what with how many times they played and when you play so much. |

i mostly talk from watching his stream back when he was laddering in korea. so i guess you could find replays of that in his korea ladder reppack. half the games i watched that got to lategame zvp he got demolished by mass zealot warpins all over his expos and mothership/ht/stalker/collossus. you just threaten an attack with your main force as you warp prism in 2 different places, so he cant split effectively. |
