I played a few games and they were good quality. I miss my old dota inhouse and I will surely play a lot of games here. |

| had some bad experiences with inhouses at the start of beta, but after getting close to 300 pub games under the belt I think I feel confident enough to give it another shot, hope to start some in a couple of hours =) |

| This is only barely just better than playing in pubs. Everyone still acts like massive assholes to eachother. |

| This is totally just my own view, but I feel the irc bot killed off TLIHs a bit, I remember before when IHs were going on constantly, sometimes 2 or 3 IHs at once. Now there are a lot more people in the beta compared to back then, and yet there seems to be less activity. |

i disagree. in the few days i've been moderating the channel i'd say 95% of the time there has been a game going on. multiple in peak times |

there are usually 1-3 IH going on with the bot, i've never really seen a game not on at all. |

Hello. I'd like to know if it's possible to take off my current account off of my steam account? The thing is, my current tlnet-dota account's email got hacked, so I can't find the password to auth in quakenet anymore and because it is bound to my steam account, I can't make a new one. Anybody know how to fix this? |

I'd like to think that those are different people,
Seconded. I always thought TL was a fun community with a play-to-win attitude, but it's just frustrating when people would rather go on and on in all-chat about how bad their teammates were rather than say, help them, or discuss comeback strategies, or even communicate in a coherent manner.
It is still better than pubs, though. |

The one single game I played with TL was so 'tryhard' that I haven't come back. They're extremely standard to the point where you're not allowed creativity, and the whining is definitely worse than pubs. I guess it makes sense considering it's the exact same on how many of you guys act in SC2. In a way it is anti to the minority such that players are castrated for using ultralisks instead of broodlords, etc.
People might not be calling each other stupid faggots but the entire time its "... why u go top and push tower when they push tower bot?" Why this item or that, etc.
It's like every single person in those inhouses spends 100% of their effort asking redundant questions because they think their that they are the shit and play the game best (and btw, playing the game the best doesn't necessarily mean following the textbooks). In which case those textbooks are created by the pros and ever changing -- aka standard means nothing and this straightforward way of though of nonreceptivity to differing playstyles really results in stagnation of skill in the first place.
Obviously theirs absolutely no way to change this problem because the entire conceptual idea of a 'standard' is exactly what these casual viewers of the community do. It's also similar to the kind of hate Russians get for playing this game simply because they play it quite differently.
At least playing with pubs and/or friends you get freedom of strategy or you can have fun copying shit Dendi does.
I guess what my rant is about is that people are too close minded with this game, and when it comes to competition people become more so.
Maybe someday this will change to the more casual fun atmosphere that I expected but I don't believe it's possible for people to be casual and fun while trying to win a game like these inhouses were supposed to be. |

I totally agree. Some players might avoid actual flaming but they sure like to belittle you subtly. The way players act is not a comfortable envioronment to play in. Maybe some rule adjustments are needed. |

Hiding exact stats from people except themselves (and admins) would be a good start, leaving just the percentage perhaps. Second would be to remind people to read the rules again (and reading rules before you play a game). Third would be to stomp down on prolonged trash talk. Last suggestion I have to is to remove cx altogether. I haven't seen a good game come out of it in a long time.Last edit: 2012-03-13 22:31:58 |
